How do you get the stink out of pet bedding? I usually wash it on hot with oxyclean and regular detergeant and then a fabric softener....but it still comes out stinky. Any suggestions? My next step was using bleach on the blankets that it doesn't matter on....but some things I don't want to bleach.

I was also going to suggest vinegar. Purchase a downeyball and put vinegar into it instead of softener...I use it on all my wash. It softens and helps remove odors. Make sure you use white vinegar.

I just washed all of my dogs bedding last night. Just used reg. laundry soap and added vinegar in the fabric softener thingie, used a dryer sheet in the dryer. Came out all smelling fresh and clean. So I'd recommend vinegar also.

I use Tide w/Frebreeze in it and rinse with vinegar (put it in the softener and bleach slot) then dry it outside in the sun. Works great for me....just can't get the smell out of their memory foam mattress!

I would use baking soda and vinegar in the washing machine or febreeze.

I use this on my family's stinky running clothes and it works great.

Vinegar, just plain white vinegar. I use it for anything stinky and it's great!! I just put a cup in my washer drum, add the detergent and wash away.

A few choices, Baking soda, or what I use, BORAX. especially for the summer laundry. Vinegar a 1/2 cup too....

I use Freebreeze Laundry Odor Eliminator.

I just put some in a bucket full strenght and dip what ever I'm trying to get the ordor out of in it and then wash as usual. It is expensive but it is worth it. It even got the mildew smell out of my stored summer clothing.

Odo-Ban. I get a huge jug from Sams/Costco and it lasts forever (you have to dilute before using). If you get it at a regular store, it will come pre-diluted in a spray bottle.

I just pour some in with the regular amount of soap.

ETA - this stuff works great on carpets too...

I worked as a vet Tech in Mississippi and washing bedding in the kennel was part of the job. We always used laundry detergent and vinegar in the rinse. Worked like a charm!

Thanks everyone! I ended up washing and using bleach....then vinegar in the rinse. The odor seems to be gone (from wash to dryer) - haven't taken a sniff since they are dry.
