Laundry Facilities at SSR/OKW?

We will be staying in a studio at each of these resorts. We will need to use the laundry facilities at each. I have a bunch of questions. Thanks for answering any and/or all of them! :)

Will you describe the laundry facilities at each? Approximately how many washers and dryers are there? Are they busy? Do you need to supervise your laundry while you are doing it, or can you come back shortly before the cycles are over? Is there a charge for DVC members? How do they know if you are a DVC member or not?

Thanks in advance!
Greg

I believe the laundry facilities at both OKW and SSR are near the pools. When I stayed at SSR last year I used a laundry facility with two washers and four dryers, but it was not at the main pool. I believe the laundry facilities near the main pool have more washers and dryers.

A lot of folks put a load in the washer and then go and use the pool. It's not necessary to stay there the entire time. But I would recommend staying nearby in case someone is waiting to use the washer after you.

It's free for DVC members, but there's really no one there to check. So if someone staying Port Orleans REALLY wants to drive down to SSR or OKW and do their laundry, I guess they can do it.

I just returned from OKW and the laundries were next to the pools. Just like previous poster said 2 washers and 4 dryers. They were all clean. I'd put the wash in and swim and then switch to dryer. The dryers dried quickly (unlike the usual hotel dryers where you have to pay for 2-3 cycles).

Also, remember they are free. They look like coin op machines but you don't need to put coins in them.

it is a machine - I had some problems with the dryer at SSR - I couldn't get it to work....

but yes 2 washer and 4 dryer at OKW.

but I would swear there were only 2 washer and 2 dryer (BIG ONES) at SSR...

there might have been 4 dryers - just not sure....

these are at the building close to the pools. all the pools.

We used the washers and dryers at the Main Pool area of OKW early this month.

2 washers and 3 dryers. We loaded the washers and swam, then the dryers and swam.

It is an extremely small room. Only one person can be in the room at a time, well 2 people if you were friends.

A lady came in to use the washers while we were drying and spilled her detergent on the floor, it was very slippery but the people who hand out the towels came over quickly to mop it. The poor lady was having a bad day. I wore flip flops when I went back into the room. I was afraid of falling, it was extremely slippery. Kind of scary.

The washers and dryers worked well, but I felt pressured by others waiting to use the room.
