Laundry etiquette

Go to this link: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/2013/01/onboard-self-and-full-service-laundry-and-dry-cleaning/

Note the laundry locations on your ship (the nearest or easiest may not be on your floor - eg we were on deck 5 forward on the Fantasy and the easiest laundry was deck 2 near the forward elevators, NOT deck 6 forward that I had been aiming for until our stateroom attendant saw me, asked if I was headed to laundry and where, and redirected me.)

Follow the link to the deck plan for your ship. The deck plans they have have the laundry rooms marked -- they look like a little front load washing machine. It helps to have an idea of where to expect them to be from the table.

I gather from other posts of yours you will be on the Fantasy.

Much depends on where you room is, but:

There is a laundry room all the way forward on deck 6 near room 6510.

There is one at the back of the ship on deck 5 near 5192.

If you are closer to midship, you could take the midship elevators to deck 10, and nearby is a laundry room near 10572.

And there is the laundry room near the forward elevators on deck 2, which may be the most convenient is you are close to those elevators or if you would have to be essentially backtracking to otherwise get to a forward laundry room.

There are a couple more on the ship; see the list.

That is perfect. Thank you!

We are on the Fantasy and am aft on Deck 6. Looks like we will simply go down one floor. Thanks again!

Regarding the laundry rooms and costs, turn around times, it should all be here:

Starwind...you beat me to this. The link provided offered a lot of good information. We will also be deck 5 forward on Fantasy. I was thinking about using deck 7 or 9 - also forward. I went with these because the chart in the link doesn't tell how many machines are in decks 2 or 6 (the other forward locations). Do you recall how many machines are in 2? And why do you suppose that your stateroom attendant directed you to 2? Thank you for sharing this tidbit of info.

We were directed to 2 because you only walk the following from 5 forward:

stateroom (5 fwd) walk to fwd elevators, go down to deck 2 (elevators or stairs down); get off elevators; when looking at the stairs the laundry room is just to the left BEFORE the archway into the hallway for the staterooms.

If you were to go to one of the forward elevators, you would do this:

stateroom (5 fwd) walk to fwd elevators, go up/down as needed; get off elevators; WALK FORWARD to the laundry room.

So, more walking, because you have that "second" walk forward to get to/from the laundry room, vs it being right there at the elevators. YOu still have to go up or down the stairs, so an extra floor or three is not a big deal.

As for the deck 2 laundry room on the Dream/Fantasy: pretty sure it looks like the pic of the deck 8 one, which is 2 washers and 4 dryers, which seems about right. Hopefully someone else may have a picture or something.

This thread has pics of what looks a lot like the deck 2 laundry room (not sure if it is that room or another): http://www.disboards.com/threads/di...we-need-your-stateroom-reports.2648711/page-5

I should also add that using the laundry room close to the elevator means that it is then easy to get to and from it from anywhere on the ship, greatly increasing the chances of a person keeping on top of their laundry and getting back to rescue it when the cycle is done. :-)

Er, and if you happened to forget something, like say your detergent, it is not as long a haul to go back to the stateroom, get it, then back to the laundry room. :-)
