Hi Everyone,

MY DH & I are making our first trip 'home' to SSR in Nov. We are staying in a studio & I am wondering if there are boxes of detergent available for purchase at the on-site laundry facilities.

It's a good day....just called Wildwood, FL where we also own a home & Charley didn't pass through there....small mercies.

Thanks very much.

I think the laundry rooms do have detergent & stuff for sale. You kow what I find works well too, and packs easily, are the laundry tablets. No worry about spilling, and you can stick them into little spaces in your luggage.

Where are you finding the tablets. Here in MA, I have looked in Stop&Shop, Shaws, Walmart, Target, CVS, and Brooks Pharmacy.

The last time I had tablets was when Wisk was giving away samples. I really liked them.

Thanks.

You can also pack softener sheets (again, no spilling), and even those color-catching sheets so you can mix colors and do fewer loads on vacation.

Mom,

I am in MA also and have had a terrible time finding them. I actually called one major company and was told they no longer make them. DH did find some in a supermarket near Boston. I told him to buy all 5 boxes, as we cannot find them in Central MA. Keep looking especially in the smaller markets as the big ones no longer carry them!

I found the Tide Tablets (Big box w/handle 112 tablets) and the Wisk Tablets at Big Lots. I was in there last Friday and they had a pallet of Tide Tabs. I havent opened the box yet, but if they are not individually wrapped I will put them in ziplocs to take with us.

I use them in the Villas too.

The tablets are great if you can find them. The Shout stick is great to take with you for stains. The general stores also stock the small boxes of detergent. I've also found small boxes of detergent and even a small Liquid All (we were driving - I don't know about taking a chance with flying) at Target over where the travel size shampoos, toothpaste, etc. can be found.

I think it was Publix had the Purex ones and others have reported finding them at places like Walgreen's and Eckerd's. You can also simply get a small box of powder and put it in a plastic bag.

I simply put one scoop of dry detergent in a snack size ziploc bag, and put that bag and a dryer sheet into a sandwich size bag. The detergent is double sealed and each packet is ready for use. I haven't had any trouble with bags opening or spilling. I try to determine about how many loads of laundry I'll be doing and pack enough for the entire trip.

I do the same thing - a scoop of detergent and a scoop of oxy-clean if necessary. then a bag with dryer sheets. All packed in a large gallon size freezer bag.

On the cruise I also throw in a bag of quarters.

I love the laundry tablets, but couldn't find any at Walmart when I was at Vero a couple of weeks ago - I forgot to buy some before we left home. I ended up buying the smallest (which wasn't really small) & cheapest liquid detergent I could find since I knew I wasn't going to take it home with me on the plane. When we left, I put the detergent in the laundry room with a note on it that it was free. I spent $1.94 on the detergent and hopefully helped out someone else who needed it. Disney charges $1/box for one scoop of Tide - definitely cheaper to bring some from home or buy some at Walmart and give away what you don't use.

I've been looking for these too. I wonder if there's anywhere we can find them online?

Wow! I'll be visiting MA in 2 weeks, guess I'd better plan on bringing some laundry tabs with me. Down here in very south Texas, we have no trouble getting them (Before you feel bad, you've got the Friendly's-we don't!)

MomofTwins -
When we went to the BCV in May I found Purex tablets at either the Brockton Walmart or the Target in Taunton. Hope this helps.

I love the tabs too. I was so afraid a while ago of not being able to get them if they stopped stocking them that I think I have enough till 2042. :teeth:

We leave next week for our trip and I have been searching for the tabs here in CT for weeks. I even told a few of my friends to keep their eyes out for them. I asked someone stocking the detergent shelves last week at Shop Rite and he said they are no longer available. I think if you find them they are from a while ago. Guess we will just add it to my list when we go grocery shopping down there.

I love these tabs too when we go to DW. Does anyone know if they expire? So if I find them now, I can use them for this April's trip?

I don't know where you can buy the tablets but we buy a little bitty container of Tide. Its called "Tide To Go" and it has 4 loads worth of Tide in it. We found it at Wal-Mart right in the checkout lane (you know where all the "junk" stuff is usually found). It cost I believe $1.94 and it worked just great on our last trip in Oct. The top was like a regular Tide top so you could measure but if I remember correctly it also had a smaller twist off top inside to prevent leaks. We didn't have any problems with leakage. Check your local Wal-Mart.

Hannaford carries the Purex tablets - at least in Maine they do. There are Massachusetts stores - so if you live near one, try there.

And if they don't have them - ASK - they will get them for you! It's part of our service!
