Latest word on renting car at SOG?

I've seen conflicting information... Do you have to be military to rent a car from the National at SOG? Will they let you on property to pick up a car, or not, if you are not military?

National's website makes no mention of having to be military, and when I called they said you did not. But I have seen reports of people being turned away at the gate of SOG b/c they are not military, even though they have car rental confirmation in hand.

So, anyone done this recently and what was the experience?

I stayed at SOG with my family last month, and they required a military ID to get onto the hotel grounds. The car in front of us was turned away when we went to check in!

The Guest Services number at SOG is (407) 824-2437. I would call and ask, and make sure to write down the name(s) of people you talk to for good measure.

I don't think you have to be military to rent a car at Shades of Green. My sister, who is not military, rented from alamo without any problems. We have also done it, multiple times, without presenting a military id.

But, it doesn't hurt to call and check.
