Congrats on your new purchase! I can't wait until we can add on to our contract as well. Do you mind sharing how much the total cost was to buy 160 AKV points through Disney? Once again, I'm confused how to figure it out because of the two different discounts they offered. I'm just curious because it does seem like Disney keeps themselves somewhat competitive with resales because of their discounts/incentives and no closing costs, yet even with the $10 per point credit, it still seems high. Maybe the 10% down payment thing is where the discount is.

With the $10 discount, if that is what Disney is offering, a 160 point contract with Disney would cost you $17,600. I believe there are closing costs for new buyers around $300 (unless something has changed in the past few months).

Your 10% down payment is based on the full price of the contract , so it would be $1920.

Right now, buying through Disney is a bit more expensive than going resale for AKV. Many are passing ROFR on AKV contracts in the 80's. At least a $20/ppt discount.

Unless you want a smaller contract (which Disney is now selling) or quick membership, resale is the way to go if the savings are most important.

$19200 for 160 points
-1920 down payment ($500 upfront and $1420 at closing)
-1600 developer credit

$15580 financing through disney at 10% for 10 years. $213 per month plus around $63 a month for dues/fees.

I hope this helps. I purchased through disney because I did before and the financing is great. I don't mind the 10% and they deduct everything automatically each month from my bank account.
