We only fly every few years.... I thought there would be a sticky on top with this info, so forgive me for asking if it's there & I missed it. We're flying out of Philly & then MCO coming home.

I know that carry-on liquids need to be less than 4 oz. and in their own seperate quart size zip-loc baggie.

I know we will need to remove our shoes going through security.

I know the adults need photo ID, but kids don't.

That's all I know. Anything I'm missing.

(aside from the obvious no-nos like guns, knives & such ;))

Actually the liquids you carry on can not be larger than 3.4 oz so 4oz is to big and will likely be confiscated.

This will help.

Why not go directly to the TSA website (link in post above)? It will answer your questions, as well as correct some of the things you posted which are not correct.

In some airports that have the body scanners you have to remove everything from your pockets even kleenex amd wallets. I high suggest having you DH put is wallet in one of the carry on bags before getting to security. That way its not out there for the public to walk off with if it is out of his sight while walking through the detector. If you have a sweater or coat on you must take that off as well. Take advantage of your time in the security line to prepare to go through security. It kills me when people stand in line for 10 minutes and then get up to the machine and have to pull stuff out of their pockets - coins, keys, ect, remove their laptops from the bag. Which is something else I should mention. Laptops must be pulled out of your bag and placed in a container to go thru the scanner by its self. When I get to the machine I am fully really to go through.

Funny story that....

When we flew from DTW to MCO in September, on the way down I automatically assumed that DS (6) would have to take off his shoes. I'm a pretty frequent traveler so I'm decent (although likely not great) at getting through security without issues.

So on the way down I take off his shoes. All the bags go through, he steps through, I step through, we claim the bags, off we go. The security agent says that really they don't have to take off their shoes but by then it was too late.

So on the way back (at MCO, new gate, new agent) tells me again that he's so young, he doesn't have to take his shoes off. So my shoes go off, bags go through. He goes through and BEEEEEEEP.

Back out he goes. Anything in your pockets little man? No. Okay. Go back through.

BEEEEEEEEP.

Out comes the wand. All the while 10-15 people are starting to pile up behind us in line. No beep on the wand. Back out. Back in.

BEEEEEEEEP.

:headache:

WAIT!!! THE SHOES!

He has Sketchers that have wound steel springs in the heels. Off come the shoes and onto the belt. Shoes go through the x-ray, he goes through with no beep, I go through.

I learned that it's better to just take the shoes off anyway.
