Just got this e-mail from Disney about DVC perks. Here's what it said:

Discounted experiences at the Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival are just a few of the tasty treats available to Disney Vacation Club Members in the months ahead. From a mind-bending show that's full of eye candy to an after-hours event that'll fill your bags with actual candy, 'tis the season to awaken your senses through the magic of Membership.

The aforementioned Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will present "a passport to a world of flavors" Sept. 30-Nov. 13, and Members who act fast may purchase discounted tickets to select wine seminars, culinary demonstrations and mixology experiences taking place Mondays through Thursdays throughout the festival. Member Services will begin booking the discounted experiences tomorrow, August 12, 2011, four days before these offerings become available to the general public.

A link within the detailed story on your Member website will lead you to more information about the festival so you'll be suitably prepared (and hungry!) by the time you call Member Services.

While on the site, don't miss these other seasonal perks:

• Discounted Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Halloween parties
• Discounted Walt Disney World Holiday parties
• Discounted La Nouba™ by Cirque du Soleil® tickets

I thought this was timely considering all the concerns about lack of DVC perks. The biggest one here seems to be a 4 day head start on the F&W activities...being able to book first and at a discount.

I won't be using any of these but they seem like decent perks to me.

Descent perks if you were already booked for F & W, but not so good to just find out about it now when most everything is booked up.

Excellent point. DVC perks really need to be planned the same way our vacations are...at least 11 months out!

I don't see any perks listed that they couldn't have planned for well in advance.

On the other hand, I don't know that the F&W perks would cause someone to want to go if they weren't going anyway. I guess I just look at it as a nice add-on.

More perks just after we joined :woohoo:

I love the Halloween perk, it's our favourite holiday event at WDW! (though they should be giving Mickey candy instead of generic stuff)

Looks like one of the things we are planning on may be discounted. I'll be calling in the morning to check on discounts for the Italy Dessert & Wine Paring that takes place on Thursdays. Everything else we are planning is on weekends.

DVC Members save $100 of the regular price of an Annual Pass, $125 off the regular price of a Premium AP.
The quote above is only for WDW. The discount at DLR in California is much less ($20 off??).

We are interested in purchasing tickets for the Culinary Demos but I can't seem to find a schedule of them anywhere. Can anyone help?

Info from the DVC Member Website on DLR Passes:

WOw! Yeah we have annual passes that are going to expire in a week but in CA so I wasn't sure if we should renew with our renewal discount or wait for DVC member # & get new one's using that. Thanks for the info on who can get one with discount. Great help! I guess we can't get one for my neice & nephew :(

Well, that's lame doesn't make any sense. Wonder what their reasoning is for that. :confused3

If you consider that with DL there are blackout dates (unless you pay extra), parking is not included (unless you pay extra) and your hopping between 2 parks, not 4 like WDW ( plus the 2 waterparks if you go premium) it is more of conundrum. The WDW AP/PAP is a much better deal for 365 days and ends up being cheaper. :confused3

This is all I can find at disneyworld.com/foodandwine:

Have you considered the SoCal Resident passes from Costco? We sometimes buy the "4 days of Play" as they allow those four days to be spread across many months and have very few blackout dates. They work best for us ... maybe they'll work for you, too?

The actual specifics of the culinary demos as well as the wine seminars are suppose to be on the Disney website tomorrow. They are not giving us much time to plan. :confused3

Especially since the culinary exp. have been on sale for a while. Not much time to plan at all.
