Latest date to upgrade to DxDP?

Usually we pay OOP but for our next trip in December 2018, I booked the DDP. My reasoning was that we are going December 29-January 4th when crowds will be crazy so we will welcome quiet meals and character buffets. My oldest will also be 9yo, so it's her last year as a Disney child.

Since I booked the DDP, I became dairy-free and I am afraid QS will be a little difficult for me and I'm wondering if I should upgrade us to DxDP but it's 660$ more so a big chuck of money, especially in canadian dollar! So my question is, when is the latest I can upgrade to DxDP from DDP? Can I do it only a few days before we check-in or would that potentially create issues with my MDE accounts?

Thanks!

I think it's 72 hours. It would function the same as adding a plan. You would need to pay in full when adding if inside your package payoff date.

If you are "just" dairy free, you are going to find lots of options at Disney, including at QS. Pretty much every restaurant will have an allergy menu which will list what is safe for a dairy allergy and you can always request to speak to a manager or chef if you have questions. At buffets, they will have a brochure with allergens listed and/or a chef will show you around the buffet to show what you can have and they can get safe food from the back.

Since you are going during one of the busiest times of the year, TS is going to be easier but it's really recommended that you eat at non-popular times so it won't be so busy. You can upgrade up to 72 hours in advance or pretty much 3 days. You will want to have reservations already scheduled if you are going to add it because it will be hard to get reservations that time of year and you're not going to be very happy if you upgrade and then can't use those credits where you want. You can always cancel the reservations a day or two in advance if you decide not to use them.

Thank you. I am planning on booking my ADRs based on the Deluxe plan and if I end up keeping the DDP, I will simply cancel the extra ones.
