Ok, so I actually got it back in january, but I finally got around to getting a frame so I thought I'd share it here...

FramedDisneyMap800x600.jpg

The map was an ebay purchase. The frame and matting came from pictureframes.com.
:cool1:

Thanks. It's not mounted on the foam board, just held in place with a few pieces of scotch tape. I actually messed up the matting. I thought they adjusted the dimensions to 1/4" overlap per side, but it's actually 1/4" per dimension. So I only had 1/8" to play with in aligning it. But it still looks good.

I would remove the scotch tape, since it will yellow or affect the paper in some way. I would get archival mounts(like $1 for 250 at Joann's or ACMoore) tabs and re mount it with that. Looks GREAT!!!

what year is that from? Very cool to see how WDW has changed. :)

That is the first map of WDW sold at the parks, not sure of the exact dates but I know it was being sold 73-75. I'd guess it was sold earlier than 1973, but I don't really know for sure. The second map showing Space Mt. appeared in 1977.

Thanks. I'll look for those this weekend. All I knew was that I didn't want to mount to the board itself.

I have one of those (with space mtn) as well I think, with the characters all around the edge? I don't think it's as colorfull as this version though. Still cool. I don't know the exact year either, as they aren't marked anywhere that I can find.

That's a great item - I too have one that is framed. It's from my first visit to WDW way back in 1972. Back then, they didnt' give out park maps like they do now, you had to buy a map if you wanted one.

There were, I believe, two updated maps of the MK sold after this one. I have the one from c. 1977 as well as a map of EPCOT Center from when it first opened that is in the same style as this map.
