I didn't look at the existing member sheets since I only had the prior new member offer sheet available for comparison. Doesn't seem like larger point purchases by existing members are much of a target for them. Hopefully we do not see a 200 point minimum for direct benefits change in the near future. That would impact resale pricing. For new buyers, isn't it?
For existing members, isn't it?
- 200-249 points at PVB ($5 better, was $5 off, now $10))
- 250-299 points at PVB ($2 better, was $9, now $11)
- All others look to be the same.
Excluding AP, Visa, D23, etc.
- 100-124 ($3 worse, was $7, now $4)
- 125-149 ($2 worse, was $7, now $5)
- 150-199 ($1 better, was $9, now $10)
- 250-299 ($1 worse, was $13, now $12)
- All other look to be the same.
When we were first purchasing, that was my mindset on the Riv and why we didn't go with it. A year later with our second direct, we are looking at Riv for two reasons. 1 - We want to stay there! We want a direct contract with no restrictions, we loved the Riv, and we want to own on a Epcot/Hollywood side resort. 2 - I don't see us selling in the future. If we do, this would probably be last to sell. But a year in it's been life changing for our family vacations. With these incentives, I'm glad I pulled the trigger on VGC direct.
That was supposed to be the "dry powder" for a Poly addon (perhaps on the member cruise), but if I didn't like the now-expired incentives, these ones definitely won't cut it. And RIV direct is a non an option with the restrictions...
As crazy as it sounds, at $330/pt for VGC direct I'm paying a 20% premium over a comparable small resale contract. At $206/pt for 150 RIV direct, I'm paying a 100% premium over a "comparable" resale contract (albeit, it's not comparable which is the source of the disparity)
And in some cases, guides are still a bit clueless. Just received call from guide who said the D23 would not be available with these incentives (but that is clearly wrong). They were effective immediately, but it is not published anywhere in the "official" DVC ecosystem; someone will have to talk to a Guide. If you ask yours what is available now, I imagine they can tell you.

Shopping for DVC while at the resorts is a dangerous game.Definitely not waiting that long! Haha. I want my points loaded before August 28th to book for spring break next year - I suppose I could wait and borrow 2026 points to save on another few weeks of dues, but seems like more trouble than its worth. (I also have my CCV resale points that won't be loaded until sometime in September, I imagine and, ideally, I'm going to try to sub those in for the spring break trip, but want to make sure I have my reservation guaranteed at the 7-month mark.)
Ok, better get off the computer here. Typing all of this this morning from my AKL savanna view balcony. We have lighting lanes starting at 9:15 (Peter Pan)!

In general, saying "100% more" then resale discounts I can use those points anywhere I want, not just the Riv. If I want more direct points, that is the best deal right now (unless AKL lets me do magical beginnings, and excluding non-Florida resorts and the Cabins).
If I could pick up CCV or VGF and transport the hotels to the Epcot areaFirst off, it's hard to argue with what the heart wants and this stuff can get very emotional. Which is why I set a firm rule for this particular issue - no direct buys of the restricted contracts,
You can change to any new offers prior to closingGlad I made a deposit on 150 points direct at Poly last cycle when the AP discount was in effect. If they add further discounts for AP/Visa/D23 to this cycle, it will be a better comparison, but I'm with you - bottom line may not change much if they do.
Now, how long after the start of last cycle did they release the update with further discounts on AP/Visa/D23? Wondering if I can wait 60 more days to close on last cycle incentives in time to see them update this cycle with those discounts.....

When your other choice is buy more Epcot 2042 resorts when your in your very very early 50s and will just be retired in 2042 ..
RIV direct is the best / only deal. Once you own direct RIV other resort points become less valuable since I cant combine them.
Restrictions work , they may suck but they sell Direct points.
You would be lucky to get BW resale @100 where are you finding BW @ 80 ?We all have different preferences...
When I wanted an EPCOT resort, I picked up BWV resale in the mid $80s... and in 10 years it may be worth $50. Compared to RIV direct, where I lose at least $100/pt on day 8, that was a very easy choice for me. Buyers in 2040 may not have that option, but I did. In 2042, when I'm in my early 70s, I may have bigger things to worry about than access to EPCOT!
No, AKL only for sold out resorts this time. Are there any incentives for BLT? I’m still holding out hope that my 209 per point I paid last year was really the amazing deal my guide told me it was.
