Late Sept/early Oct trip??

Hi everyone,

We are planning a fall trip, originally were going to go in mid-Sept but now we're thinking we'll shoot for late Sept/early Oct so we can catch the Haunted Mansion "Nightmare" version. I've never gone this time of year and was wondering the following:

1) How are crowds this time of year? (we're thinking 9/29-10/3)

2) When exactly is "Gay Days" and does this impact crowds?

3) Are fireworks and parades offered since this is not peak season? If so, are they only on weekends? We'd like to be in the park Mon-Thurs and I'd really like to catch the Pixar parade at DCA and one fireworks show if possible.

I am not sure how Gay Days affects the crowds, but from what I have read it seems to be noticeable. I believe the parades are shown everyday, not just on weekends, so no problems there. Fantasmic and fireworks are both reserved for Fri-Sun in the off season, but you never know. Check the schedule on disneyland.com as soon as it comes out to know for sure.

I doubt gay days noticably effects attendance numbers. Some say they the crowds are nore noticable, but I think it is just that the gay prople are more noticable with their red shirts and all. If we made a list of large groups that attend DL I doubt the gay days people would stand out!

EDIT.... I take that back...... I didn't realize they had numbers pushing 30,000 last year!!! With 30,000 extra people in the park it could get crowded!!!!

i have heard sep and oct that fantasmic will not be showing so be prepaired in case it isnt.

I really appreciate the response and would love to hear additional input if everyone has any.

We will mainly be in the parks on 9/30-10/2 so if "Gay Days" starts 10/4 hopefully we will be ok even if some come early on 10/3?

Great news about the parades. I checked the calendars and didn't see any specific info yet about parades or fireworks. We've seen Fantasmic at WDW and even though I know it is different at DL I am ok missing it. We will be coming in Sunday so if there are fireworks Sun night we can try to watch them from our hotel. So as long as the crowds aren't too bad and we can catch the Pixar parade during the week I think we'll be ok.

Gay Days starts on the 3rd, so it will be crowded that day. Have fun and take lots of pics!
