I’ve read conflicting reports here about how rider switch works later in the evening. Here’s what we’ve found so far.

Rise of the Resistance - we arrived about 20 minutes before closing time. Group 1 was sent through the ILL lane even though we hadn’t made that purchase.

Group 2 was asked to wait outside and they would be accomodated, even if it was after closing time. Both groups were done by about 9:25.

7 Dwarfs - we arrived 10 minutes before closing time. Group 1 was sent through the standby line while group 2 was told to be ready at the exit. The posted wait was 40 minutes but the actual wait was only 15.

We handed off the baby at the exit as instructed and everyone was done by 11:15.

During those 10 minutes before close, group 2 had time to meet both Cinderella and Snow White and ride the Carousel. That was a very efficient use of time.

We’ve done late night rider switch at Test Track and we have to go to the exit (through the gift shop) and wait where they unload. There is usually a CM there and once party 1 gets off, you can hand off the waiting child and go on with one more rider (only 1 child is allowed and rider switch has to be setup at the entrance ahead of lining up).

Same thing at Big Thunder mountain (waited in exit area). Both times we were using Genie+, so we didn’t have time to do anything else (wait was 15-20 mins).

If lines are long (usually daytime), they do make the entire party including the baby wait outside the ride until the entrance sign (in the extended roped area). We’ve had to do that at FOP (5 mins outside when wait was 60 mins) and SDMT (20 mins outside when wait was 60 mins) and Expeditioon Everest (ridiculous, 2 mins); benefit was that Rider Switch was immediately active and valid until end of day.

We now just use Genie+/LLI$ for these rides. I have no experience with ROTR without LLI$+rider switch

I’m glad they’re not turning anyone away like what has been reported here in the past.

I did like the ease of being sent through the ILL line at Rise, but I doubt the standby line was 10 minutes so it probably didn’t save much time.
