Late Night Arrival, DME or Towncar?

My flight arrives at 11PM on a Friday night. It is my first solo trip and it would also be my first DME experience. As a family we always rent a car. I have been reading about long waits for DME late at night with as long as 2-3 hours before arriving at your resort from MCO..... What would you recommend?

That's not typical. I think maxiesmom is the only person I've ever heard of that happening to.

Personally, I would take DME.

I agree I too have only seen Maxiesmum report that miserable experience. You will need to pick up your luggage yourself prior to taking the bus. Daytime average time landing to resort is reported to be 70 - 90 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a bit more late at night.
Have a Fun Trip

As a solo I would use DME but I have always had good experiences - my average is about the same as is usually reported here; which is about 90 minutes even at night. You will have to allow a bit more time to collect your bags but it shouldn't be that long. No way could I justify the cost of a town car for just myself to save maybe 30 minutes.

I'm going to go against the grain here. I love the ease of a town car and I think the price is very reasonable for the service you get. It's really nice to have someone waiting at baggage pick up for you with a sign with your name on it. They then get your luggage and it's just a short walk down a flight of stairs to the waiting car and then a quick trip right to your hotel door were they get your luggage out for you. It's always under an hour from the time our plane lands to the time we are at our hotel. Well worth it to me even more so if I arrive late at night.

For the most part I haven't been wild about my towncar experiences, so I'd recommend DME. Either one will be fine, though. Choose from appeal rather than from worry.

Hands down - Town Car. The last time we used DME it was miserable and we waited and waited and waited. I am not sure I will ever use DME for arrival transportation. Just my experience.

Hands down - DME. The last time we used a Town Car it was miserable. (The driver refused to make the 30-minute grocery stop we had booked because he had another pick-up scheduled and they decided at the last minute they wanted to be picked up earlier, and he complained to us the whole time about how we apparently were making him late. We felt really special.) Other than going from a WDW resort to Port Canaveral (because DCL transport from the resorts doesn't leave until later in the day), I am not sure I will ever use a Town Car for transportation again. Just my experience.

We've arrived late on a few occasions and never had a serious delay. One time the bus left as soon as we boarded even though my family were the only ones on it.

DME isn't for everybody and I totally accept that some people are going to be infinitely happier with a Town Car under any circumstances. However, don't assume that a Town Car is any kind of panacea that removes the potential for problems. Any kind of transportation can have random failures or drivers who are jerks.

YMMV.

My husband flew down last month the day after the rest of us, thanks to his school schedule. His flight from PHL was delayed several times...and he ended up on a DME bus all by himself at 2am. Said it was the biggest limo ride of his life, ha! (He sat in the front row and chatted with the driver the whole way. Said she was really nice.) He thought it turned out to be less stressful than a rental or car service.
