I have been checking the National website daily (sometimes more) in hopes that rates start going down for late May/early June rental. My rate seems to be stuck at $326 for 10 days beginning May 31 - June 10 picking up at MCO. We have a convertible and I used the Emerald Club code of 5007125 and the Emerald Club $40 off coupon code. Anyone seeing rates drop yet???

I check every day myself for our quick weekend June 8-11. Not a sign of movement yet. Waiting is a pain...

the convertible is always out of my price range;) ; does it ever drop?

have you tried WM or Sams (mousesavers)

We had a luxury for 1 week for $202. :) It went down last week, it was $400+.

We rented a convertible from Alamo last May for a week and the cost was around $140!! This year I am just hoping the prices gets closer to $200 - but its not looking too promising! I have tried every combination of codes I can find. National with Emerald Club code and coupon are the cheapest of all.

We are renting a minivan to drive from PA to FL June 7-17. Our total with taxes and a free extra driver is $455. It hasn't budged for weeks. The base rate on the minivan is 269/wk. We are with Alamo. I used a $25 off coupon (that I saw on Mousesavers) and the code was either the Vacation Outlet one or the Walmart one. I tried both and got the same result so I don't remember which one I kept.

National and Enterprise are over $100 more. Enterprise is more than that. Hertz is through the roof. We don't have any Dollars or Thriftys near us. I forget about Avis, but I know it was quite a bit higher.

It is a pain to keep checking!! Perhaps when May hits the rates will drop.

I'm picking up a car with National on May 18th. I check every day, but so far the rates aren't dropping.

lucky you! i may just have to start checking that rate too lol.

did you see the other thread as to how AAA dropped slightly?

I have a rate of $215.00 for 9 days with Emerald Club and $40.00 off coupon. I'm still hoping to go a little lower. Thanks for starting the thread! My dates are June 1-9.

I have $200 for an 8 day full size rental using the $40 off coupon and thrugh the Emerald Club. I noticed yesterday that it went down.

My rate dropped again today. It is now $224 for Emerald Aisle for 13 days (2 week rental). It was $343 a couple of months ago and has dropped more than $100 since I originally booked. I only have a few more days to go, so thinking this is it. I never expected it to go this low. So I'm paying about $112 a week including all taxes and fees. Hopefully everyone elses will drop too. My dates are April 29-May 11. (Used the 500712 code and $40 club coupon).

I just modified my res. for June 1-9 (9 days). A mid-size Suv will be $199.00 using the Emerald Club, $40.00 off coupon, and Entertainment contract #. I met my goal of under $200.00 for the vaca, and who knows, maybe it will drop again.

I had to break my ressies into three rentals. I used national to rent a premium (Buick) for two days down applying two rental credits and pay 50.16. When we get to MCO we will exchange it for a Cadillac for two weeks with a $30 off coupon for $526.08. I could have gotten slightly cheaper through Alamo for $499. but might as well collect the rental credits for the 14 days rental through National. For the return leg, we exchange the Cadillac at MCO for a 7 passenger mini van for two days at $42.59.

It works because most rental companies practically pay you to take selected vehicles out of Orlando. I was originally quoted nearly $1400 for an 18 day round trip rental, but got it all for a little under $620.

All I have to do now is monitor Nationals last minute specials email for a luxury car for less than $526. and jump on it if the opportunity comes along. It actually did last year about two weeks away from our trip.

Checked this mornig and found a $25 off one way rental coupon. Added an extra day to the return leg, and the total came to $34.66 vs the $42.59. More time to turn in the van, and slightly cheaper on the rate. I'll take it.
