We're heading down for a quick trip to Fl and will be spending a few days in the Orlando area. I'm hoping to stay at RPR and visit Universal for 2 days and MK for 1 day. We can either travel the last week of June or the last week of August. Taking weather and crowds into consideration (especially since we have 3 young children), which week would you go and why?

My family has done both. Hands down late August for lower crowds. However, the weather is HOT and humid, usually. Rates will also be cheaper late August.

I pick late august every time due to lesser crowds. :thumbsup2

Yup, late August is better for crowds. Weather is still hot, hot, hot though.

We have been twice last 2 weeks of August and we love it.

Crowds are low, especially the last week and yes it is definately still hot, but we still love it :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Since you're staying onsite you won't have to really care about crowds. We always go the end of June and my sister always goes mid to end of August. For the last 2 years she has had one day of complete torrential rain and we have enjoyed 4 dry days. You're chances of hurricane type rain is higher in August...based on personal experience. However, any time spent at Universal is wonderful no matter when you go!

We've never been to Universal before. Do the room keys really get you to the front of the line? Is it really a short wait, or just shorter?

If it IS true that the keys work as they are said to, then maybe the drier June weather may be the best for us...

if you are an onsite hotel guest, you are allowed to use the express lines as much as you want.
yes, the express line is shorter than the regular lines.

this also includes the shows, express lines are available.

i have gone in June and it has poured some years.
i would prefer going in late August.

the park hours for June are longer than the park hours for end of August.

at the studios side, most of the rides are indoors.
think a/c.
it will be hot in august but you probably will be indoors for quite a bit during the day.

Your room key is the Express Pass during your visit but you don't get to go to the front of the line. You still have to wait in the Express queue but like FastPass it's a shorter wait. During peak times the Express wait could be upwards of 25 minutes but it's normally under 15 minutes.

Living in Orlando for the past eight years I can tell you that if I were to choose between June and August, I would go with June. It's just too hot and humid in August to enjoy yourselves. Crowds are higher in June but the weather is a bit more comfortable than August. I don't go to any of the parks in the summer but that's an advantage of living nearby. ;)
