Late fastpass no longer accepted?

We grabbed fast passes for Toy Story last to e were there not really paying attention to the time. It happened to overlap with our ADR at Sci-Fi and the CMs were happy to let us on late with our check. We also missed Soarin while were on the Behind the Seeds Tour and the CM there also was very good about letting us on with after we showed our receipt. I think as long as you have proof there should be no reason to not use your fast pass.

I didn't realize that you used to be able to use your fastpass after the time specified until recently. We've always used them during the window. I thought this was the point of fastpasses. If people go at the correct time then the fastpass line will never be that long because they are monitoring the amount allotted during that time. To me, hoarding fastpasses and going whenever you want kind of feels like cheating the system. I'm pretty sure disney has anytime passes you can buy to do that. Seems to me that everyone who is miffed about this is most upset about being unable to do things on their own terms. :confused3
Don't mean to offend just my honest opinion in the matter.

I agree

You'll lose that bet this time.

Have at it.

You know what? Me too. It's just not worth it anymore....

I'll let these posters tell me I was wrong to listen to CM instructions and let it pass.

If neither of you address this I will! I just don't know where to start.

Just do a search, find Robo and MesaBoy's posts on it and copy and paste.

Okay, a few things about this. In the old system, people who didn't return during the fastpass window were not "hoarding" fastpasses, nor we're they doing anything sneaky or wrong. You were allowed to come back at any time after the posted return time. This wasn't an abuse of the system, it's the way the system worked. I used it for many if the reasons people posted above---I was in a restaurant, on another ride, on the other side of the park, etc.

Not sure what you mean by "anytime passes," but no, Disney did not have a special system where you could buy a pass that let you on any ride at any time. You must be thinking of another theme park.

I'm not really bothered by the changes in the FP system. We used them in January & missed a ride here & there because we were outside the time window. If I had really cared, I would have made sure I made it to the ride on time.

I've read that there are certain rides that have fastpasses that are disconected from other rides so you can get them anytime. Does this still exist?

Several people, if not more on this discussion board have had cms tell them that they could return after the time window that was printed on the FP ticket. I found out about this from a cm. I was nearly late once for my buzz FP and I joked with the cm saying it was a close call and the cm laughed an said I could have returned at any time with no problem. (Before the time enforcement came in). I never did do this as I've normally gone at slower times, and, my next visit was after the time enforcement.
The people here on the dis who used to use FP out of the time window before the enforcement are some of the most helpful people on here you will find :)

Mickey at Town Square Theater and sometimes Barnstormer.

Sorry to go a bit off topic here, but is barnstormer disconnected still? Wasn't too sure if it had been recently taken off from the disconnected FPs or not

It was definitely disconnected during Pres week in February. I pulled one while holding a PP FP and before I was eligible for another one. I think Josh has pulled one that would not have been allowed if connected since then....

Thanks, thought it was still disconnected, and was sure I'd seen it on one of Josh's posts :)

This morning I was thinking about where I first came upon this info and am pretty certain I found out the exact same way, though it's been a long time now.

And thank you. :goodvibes

It is not too bad so sad. From what I have read if you are late because of an ADR you only need show them your check from the restaurant. If you are stuck on a ride they will still offer anytime FPs to make up for the inconvenience.

Is it up to the discretion of the cast member? Yes. But you make it sound as if they won't do anything for you, and they don't care. Which is not true.

They don't do anything, nor do they care. IMO This has happened to us several times. I've also witnessed this with other guests. It's why, we no longer book ADRs and eat most meals in our room. You are now charged $10, if you don't show up, within a certain time frame. And, you are exped to get there early.

Our last trip a 50 minute wait time, turned into 3 hours at TSMM...load of crap from CM. The day before, we waited, over an hour in the FP line for Soarin. We were finally moved to side A. The guests behind us, had FP that were expiring in 30 minutes. I suggested, they talk to the CM...surely they could help. The CM told them to hurry to their next attraction and maybe, they could come back to Soarin later. Another couple (their first trip) had to leave for an ADR...said they were never coming back to Disney. At that point, Soarin had a 180 standby line. There were numerous phones and cameras snapping photos of that display. Oh, and Ellen went down on our trip last summer. We were stuck on the ride for 45 minutes. The CMs literally turned their face away from guests to avoid contact. I'm not blaming the CMs, it appears this is what, they are told to do.

Wow....I go several times a year. I spend 15 or 20 days a year in the parks, more sometimes. I have never experienced anything like these occurrences. You had some massive bad luck!
I have never had a CM turn their back on me. Even in the rare cases where I'm frazzled for some reason and probably less pleasant than I should be....
And, when it's something I think is important and the CM cannot help me for whatever reason, GS has always come through.
