Hi y'all. I've been hanging out at the CB for the past couple months after I got sooo much info from this board, I just decided to sit back and relax. Now I have come up with a question that may have already been presented on this board, so please excuse me if it has..

This trip in October (currently booked at CBR, but holding out for AP rates at the WL) is the first time we will fly. Our return flight home does not leave until 7:00 p.m., so we are planning on doing the Pirate Cruise in the a.m. and relaxing in the afternoon. My question is about late checkouts at the resorts-is there such a thing? What would something like that cost?? Or, is it OK with the resort to check out of the room, but stay around the resort and pool for the rest of the afternoon?? I have never had the wonderful opportunity of spending these precious last hours at WDW. Usually it's up at the crack of dawn to begin the long, long drive home. Would appreciate some info on this...Thanks!!

The latest check-out I've ever had was 1:00pm.

It depends on how busy the resort is.

You are more than welcome to stick around for teh rest of the day and use the pool. There are shower/changing rooms located in the pool vacinity.

Enjoy!

Anne

When we were at POFQ the second week of June, we asked for late check out the day that we checked in. The CM told us to ask again the day before we checked out to see if it would be possible. When we did ask, the resort was booked, so we weren't able to do a late check out. However, our plane didn't leave until 7pm, so we just had them hold our luggage and we went enjoyed our day, picking up our luggage when it was time to leave for the airport.

I actually was thinking in terms of checking out and just hanging around the resort, but I didn't know if it was Disney's policy that once you were off the books, you were persona non grata at the pool or not. I thought I had heard that it was ok to visit the pool if you arrived too early for check in, but wanted to make sure before I was "politely" asked to leave...;)

We are going at a slower time of the year, so if there isn't any charge for late check-out, I might see if they will allow it. It would be nice to leave packing until after we get back from the Pirate Cruise..

Thanks for the info!:wave2:

We always ask for late checkout. We've gotten 1 p.m., noon and turned down. You can get later than 1, but you have to pay 1/2 the daily fee. We also have always been told to ask the day before.

You can definitely use your resort's facilities all day. You can even charge purchases on your room card until midnight!

We tried 2 weeks ago at the AKL but it was a flat out no go:confused3 oh well

But as far as hanging around the hotel, we did it a year ago at the Poly when we had a late flight, and they also held all our junk for us until we were ready to take it. No problem. They will wave you right into the resort with your parking paper on your dash.

And 2 weeks ago on a weekend trip to AKL we had a late flight they also held our bags while we went out for the day!
