OK, I think I have decided that I am going to add one more night to my reservation in October(3rd week). We were going to leave on Tuesday and stay until Sunday, but now I think it would be a good idea to leave the night before(arriving on Monday evening) and staying until Sunday. This would give us a little more time in the parks. My question is....we have never used the DDP before and I am considering it for this trip. I know that DDP is for each night of your stay, so will we get the DDP for Monday also(even though we are not there until late). I have two boys who will be 10 and 7 at the time of our trip. Also want to hear any opinions on the DDP, positive or negative! We don't normally eat such big meals, but it would be nice not to have to worry about ordering something expensive when we do table service!!!

DDP starts the day of checkin and expires at midnight after you check out. So yes, you would have DDP for that Monday night. You pay for DDP, and receive meal credits for each night of your stay.

You could either use the extra credits on Sunday -- or if you are leaving too early on the Sunday, do a 2 TS signature meal. Extra CS and snack credits are great for the trip home -- just go to Earl of Sandwich or some similar place and stock up for the trip.

Thanks for the quick reply!!! I just wanted to verify that it was per night. So glad because I just added one more night to our stay at POR. I know we won't get there until late, but then we have extra meals for our stay as well! The DDP sounds like such a bargain!:goodvibes

Depending on how late you are arriving, you may or may not want to be on the plan. If it is a very late arrival, then I'd recco reserving the room for the first night as a separate reservation. If you are there early enough in th evening to enjoy a nice meal, then I'd go ahead and make it all one ressie. Use the first night to settle in, eat a relaxing meal, walk around the resort a bit, and get a good nights sleep.

For our trip in April we are arriving in Orlando ~10pm. We booked a night at the Pop Century as a separate reservation, as all we need is a place to sleep. Our next ressie starts the next day @ WL. W'll just have the bell man send the luggage from POP to WL, we'll cab over to WL and check in,get our park tix and spend the day in the MK. When we return to the WL our rooms will be ready. No fuss no muss, no extra DDP meals to worry aout.

We like the arrive the night before strategy. Makes for a much more relaxed Day 1.

rather have the extra meals myself, but we are big eaters, and you could maybe plan a signature experience and use 2 credits later in your stay - DDP is a lot of food, but there is always room for an extra snack,drink,etc...more fun for us than we ever imagined since we started using DDP,and we are passholders.

This is a very good point. If you make those two separate ressies, you don't have to get DDP for the first night, but you can check out and check right back in the next morning and still have DDP for your entire trip.

There's a good chance you'd have to switch rooms, but if you explain the drill to the CM's at checkin, they might be able to put you in a room that you would not have to move from. Then, all you'd have to do is a quick trip to the front desk to check out and in.
