LATE check-in at POP; am I stuck?

Our flight arrives at 10:05 pm. We'll be taking the Magical Express to POP, so who knows when we'll actually get to check in.

I've requested a non-smoking room. Am I guaranteed to get that, or will I be stuck with whatever's left when we get there? We're checking in on a Thursday, so I don't know if that helps or hurts our cause.

I'm having nightmares of being stuck on the second or third floor, far from elevators/stairs, in a smoking room with a view of the dumpster, below someone who flushes the noisy toilet every 5 minutes! (Did I leave anything out?)

If our Thursday night room is absolutely unacceptable, can we check out and check into a better room on Friday?

I checked into Pop at about 1:20 AM last year (our flight was delayed out of Boston due to a sick crew member) - I got the non-smoking room that I requested! It was a Monday, though, which may make a difference.

Hey I flush every 8.5 minutes not 5 :goodvibes and I like the dumpter there it makes it so much easier to just throw the stuff over the balcony. That was not smoke it was my grilled cheese burning from the Iron being to hot. :rotfl:

The furthest rooms from the elevator are really not that far from the elevators at all. They are all located in the center of the building. Each wing is 12 rooms long, so it's probably a 30 second walk to get to them.

In regards to smoking/non-smoking... it's not guaranteed. At that time of night, it really all depends on occupancy. Chances are you will be fine.

If you really want a first floor room, I should let you know that they are very popular. However, personally, I prefer the higher level rooms, because it's less people walking down the hallway.

And lastly, there are no Dumpster Views at Pop :)

Now, should you get a room that you really don't like, you CAN do a room change. Just go down to Guest Services the next morning, and they will arrange it. You will need to let them know when your bags will be packed and ready to be moved, and how many bags you will have, so make sure to have that information with you. Pop Century will move your bags once the new room is ready, while you're playing in the parks.

Thanks, Tyler. I was so hoping that you would see this thread!

I think we will want a fourth floor room. Should I have CRO note that on my ressie, or is it better to fax it in or simply give them big puppy-dog eyes when we check in?

I'm so relieved to know that we will be able to do a room change without too much hassle, though, just in case we need to. Is there a "Room Change Fee" like there is at DVC Resorts?

And can I request that fran99999 not even BE at Pop when we're there? ;)

You mean you don't want connecting rooms??? lol

There is no room change fee at Pop Century. All that we ask is that you have a valid reason for wanting to change. (ie, to be closer to Classic Hall, non-smoking, something wrong with the room)

its nice to know we can ask to have our room switched
we'll be checking in at a very busy time - 3pm on a Sat! (plane lands at 2)

Disney does not guarantee location (unless you pay for prefered locations), or smokin status (unless it is for medical reasons).

So whether you check in at 3:00pm or midnight, it is all luck of the draw. They will do their best to accomodate your requests, but guarentee anything.

We had a late check in too (about 12:30 on a Thursday) We got the non-smoking room we requested but did not get the king sized bed I had called about THAT morning to request. I was kinda upset about that considering the hotel was empty due to hurricane season...but oh well. We still had fun :flower:

Ok I did stay at the POP I stayed in the last room on the top floor in the building with the BIG WHEEL in front, on the end with Mr & Mrs Potato Head. I am not joking. I went to WDW just prior to my knee replacement surgery and did not have any issue with the walk to/from my room or to the bus stop. It really wasnt that far of a walk. I am planning on going back this year for MNSSHP again and will be staying at the POP. I go to the POP when its just my DS6 and myself. My DH wants the deluxe hotels, for my DS to have the slide, so he claims.

I checked in at 10:30 pm and was given a Non smoking room. I had requested preferred room when I called for the reservation but was told none was available. So I requested a room near the elevator, for my knee issue, but none was available checkin night. I was told to come back to the desk the next day and they would note on my reservation that I needed a room near the elevators. I called the front desk the next am to tell them the room was fine and I didnt need to move, and thanked them very much. I ws told if it became an issue to stop by the front desk and they would take care of the issue.

I have received better customer service from the POP staff than any other hotel I have stayed at on Disney property. I have spent a few days at GF, CR, & the Poly.

I am sure your requests will be met if at all possible. ::yes::

Have a great trip :cool1:
