Hey all. We are looking at a 4 day wish cruise. Going to do the park a bit before it. We have an open weeks so we are going to take advantage of it. My kids haven't been on a cruise yet we have ben on a bunch but way way back before kids. Like 10 plus years ago.

Only available dining is the late rotation at 815. That a big deal?

What do you all think about the main 3 dining places on this ship for those who have been before? 4th night is the pirate night should we bail on that night for palo without the kids or do the pirate night? We have done Palo before but again a long time ago. Looks very different now. Encante' menu is too tough for my wife so that's out. I see there is also the pub? Worth a go or stick with regular rotations? is this available for lunch also or only dinner? I'm going to have more questions but this is what is on my mind right now.

Oh we are going to do Oceanview middle of ship floor 2 only unless I go back of ship like all the way back and that is higher. for movement I assume the middle will be better or does it not matter if at back of boat. just wondering on what you would do. middle lower in boat or back of boat higher up?

Not at all... also, if it is a concern, you may be able to switch it. You can even try the day of if that doesn't work.

Avengers - 1st Time we were on board, thought the food was great, 2nd time it was very disappointing. Service time can be hit or miss.
Frozen - very fun, but your enjoyment varies greatly on where you are seated in the room. some seats are downright terrible. Food is very solid.
1923 - Nice atmosphere, shame for such a boring facility the food isn't either more unique or better views of the ocean more consistently available. Great spot to go for Breakfast/Lunch when available - I prefer it to the Marceline market.

Bail on it.

Pub is a la carte, and fine, but I wouldn't recommend it as a substitute for dinner personally. We found Enchante needing some work - very stuffy and intimidating atmosphere - despite a plastic Lumiere nailed to the wall as you enter.... Would not recommend, and has made is think we are not interested in any of the high end Disney restaurants after that experience - great food, but no joy on the part of the servers, nothing to put you at ease, make you feel welcome, etc. The opposite of Lumiere's comment to "go on unfold your menu, take a glance and then you'll be our guest".... Unsure if Palo is the same way.

If you want to do alternative dining, Pirate Night is the night to do that. Depends on the day what dining venues are available, and even the sailing to be honest.

If you're worried about motion, middle of the boat, midship is the way to go. Don't want to be too low, or too high. A situation like Deck 6 Midship might be ideal for you, depending on what is available, cost, etc.

We seem to be in the minority by far, but many of our favorite dishes are on the Pirate Night menu. Not sure why it gets a bad rap. I’d try it at least once before you judge it. Next cruise ditch it if you don’t like it.

How old are the kids? We strongly prefer the late dining, but ours are older.

If you are going to do Palo or Enchante I would try to do it on pirate night. I'm not a fan of the pirate menu. The pub basically has snacks so most would not consider it for a meal. Of the three dining rooms, 1923 has my favorite food and atmosphere.

As far as the dining time goes- I would say the impact may depend on the age of your kids. Also, if you are coming from another time zone the later dinner may not be as big of a deal. If your kids are a little bit older you should be ok. You can always call and get on the wait list if you would like an earlier dining time.

Also, the festival of foods on deck has some great options that are not on the other ships like Mexican food and barbeque.

Whether late dining is a big deal just depends on your party. It would be for me but I’m east coast and have little kids who turn into pumpkins at 9 pm at the latest.

We just did the main dining rooms and were happy but if you want to try a specialty restaurant or maybe the pub then pirate night is the time to do it. Don’t skip pirate night though - dress up and have fun with the party on the ship.

As for the rooms, again it’s a preference thing. What do you want to be closest to? Look at what’s near those parts of the ship.

We absolutely loved cruising on the Wish. Best vacation ever. Have fun!

Agreed. Pirate Night is a menu we look forward to (yes we know we're in the minority). Try it once, then you know.

8:15pm dinner isn't a big deal unless you make it one. Not trying to be flippant/rude, but lots of people do late dining every cruise, and many prefer it. Yes there are specific reasons why late dining might be a problem for some; however, if you don't have a specific issue then I'd say go with it. As others said, you can request to move up if it is a problem.

I enjoyed all three of the MDRs on the Wish. I recommend trying each one so you can form your own opinion. I would say that also for Pirate Night if you've never had that menu before. Though, if you are looking to book adult dining, Pirate Night would be the best option for you. I agree with others, I wouldn't do the pub over one of the MDRs.

If you're concerned about ship movement, then midship on a lower deck is the best, so you're in the right spot. Aft you will feel maybe a little bit more movement, and definitely more higher up. Overall, movement is not too bad on the Wish, thought it does depend on time of year and how the seas are. If you're aft, you will feel the thrusters as you go in/leave port (there will be a vibration).

I agree on both points!

I'm mostly a "beef" person and the steak on Pirate night is my 2nd favorite of the 3 rotational meals and Pirate Night. I enjoy that dinner a lot.

We have always chosen late dining no matter what ages my kids were (we've been sailing since they were 8 months and 3 1/2...they are now adults). I find even the nights we do a show (which is not often) I feel rushed. I wouldn't want to be rushed every night for dinner.

Thanks alot everyone. I was 't worried about the late seating for the kids. They are 11 and 4 now. I was more worried about my parents I think. I mentioned I to them and they could have cared less. So that's taken care of.

So we ended up booking a balcony room on the 6th or 7th deck. I forget which without looking. Aft like way way way aft. All that is left. lol My wife told me when we went our first time we were aft on an inside room and we were fine. The other 2 times we were balcony in middle.

More to come. I'll be back. I'm still working. I have other questions and want to comment on all the time you guys too responding! I appreciate it so much. Man I fell like I never did any of this before but again it was 17 years ago since our last Disney Cruise. lol

I had an aft verandah stateroom on deck 7 when I sailed the Wish. Not one that faced aft, but one of the furthest back verandah rooms facing sideways (port in my case). I enjoyed it, and didn't feel too much movement. The two big things were that I did feel vibration from the thrusters when the ship was docking/leaving (which I already mentioned), and the walk to the elevators. The Wish doesn't have a true aft elevator bank (they have a forward one, and a midship one that is slightly 'aft' of true midship). So it was a bit of a walk to the elevators. But, I figured unless I was going somewhere else aft, then I would've made the walk either way (either on my deck, or on the deck I was going to). Overall, would definitely sail aft deck 7 again, just pointing out the two things I noticed.

ok our 2 rooms are 7682 and 7684 aft. like really aft. lol

so if I can 10038 and 10040 which is forward but as close to middle as possible but again still forward is that better? they are by elevators. do deck 10. that is my other option. it's less than 100 dollars more?

I got a bunch of other questions but I want to tighten this up first before I pay. It's on hold now. I wanted to look again tonight when I got home.

We were in that range but on the other side on both Wish cruises (7174 and 6194) and we liked them. It was very quiet since few people come down that way unless they are in those rooms. I didn't particularly feel any movement or the thrusters. I personally found the Wish to be an incredibly smooth ship; I'm must more used to the vibrations and noise from the engines on the other ships. The only downside was the long walk to the elevators but that gave me an excuse to say that it was okay to have two ice cream cones instead of one because I was working it off.
