Late arrival - finding your moderate room ?

If we fly Jet Blue - we arrive at MCO about 9:50 PM - so then DME ride is about 10:45 PM and the large moderate resort would be about 11:30 PM arrival time

We do not mind carrying our own luggage.
But what if we get a room not close to the lobby ?

Is the lighting good ?
Building layouts easy to manage and find rooms?
Buildings have great markings ?

Should we use the flashlight on our phones?

Thanks for any advice.

The POR, CSR & CBR all are large resorts with many buildings.
How confusing are they in finding your room in the dark for the first time?

My choice would be to have Bell Services bring you and your luggage to your room.

At CBR and POR, yes very good. We have not stayed at CSR.

At POR and CBR we think so.

Buildings have great markings ?

Yes

No need to. It wouldn't be any help really.

How confusing are they in finding your room in the dark for the first time?

In our opinion, not confusing at all. But if you're worried, just have Bell Services take you and your things.

I would recommend printing out a copy of the resort map for your resort, and doing online check in. If you get the email with your room number (most people do) then you can locate your building on the map and plan how to get there. Once you find your building, there are signs with room numbers and arrows on the buildings themselves to direct you to your individual room number. Most Disney room numbers at the mods and values follow the same pattern, a four digit number with building number first, then floor, then room. So if your room number was 7265, you would be in building seven, on the second floor, in room 65.

It used to be that they would offer to take you to your room. Now you have to ask. Usually I end up wandering around, looking for my room on my own.

CSR is well lit, I've had no problem finding my room at night. POR is a bit darker.

We found POR to have very poor lighting around the grounds. Its also the only resort we have ever gotten lost trying to find our room, and we have stayed at all of the moderate resorts.

My first answer is to use the Bell Service We always arrive midnight or later and mainly stay a lot at Mods, and truthfully never had a real issue finding our room. We drive so we are already parked close to our building, but I will still locate the room myself first, so that if I do make a wrong turn, it's only me and not all 4 of us and then I check the room and go back for the rest of the family.

Just ask Bell to help. 2013, POR, arrived at some point after 1, asked for help. Not sure if he was with other guests or napping but after a few minutes he emerged and happily took us and our bags to our room.

I agree with others... Do online check-in so you get your room number ahead of time. They will send you a resort map text also, and look at that, just to get an idea of where your room is. The only resort I have ever had a problem finding my room was CSR. The Ranchos buildings were confusing for me and took me forever to find the stairs - every time we went to our room! I don't know why. I could see AB at POR being confusing, especially at night, too. But if you have a map and look at it ahead of time that would help a lot.
It's also not a bad idea to get bell services to help you out. At POR a few years ago, DD wasn't feeling well on the bus coming back from MK and she thought she was going to be sick. We got off the bus at the first stop, which was AB. It was our first night, and our first stay there, and we had no idea where we were. Thank goodness someone from bell services just happened to drive by. We asked him how to get to our Royal Room, and he offered to drive us there. It was a lovely drive, and the cool air blowing on DD made her feel better. (just showing you how helpful they are!)

I would ask for help if you are at all unsure. I have found CM's to be very sweet about it, and there's nothing magical about wandering lost in a resort toting luggage.

Are you not able to stay at POFQ?

We stayed at por last year and arrived at night when it was dark. We had trouble finding our room and there really wasn’t anyone there to help. We just kind of wandered until we found it. Luckily we had a rest day the next day.
