Late 70's early 80's girls

FORENZA!!!!!!!!!! OHMYGOD I loved anything that had that tag in it!!

How about Jessica Mclintock? Or am I heading into the 90's now?

Nah, I think Jessica McClintock was around at the same time as Gunne Sax. I seem to remember seeing ads for both, along with ones for those dyeable shoes, in magazines right around prom time.

Don't forget shopping at 5-7-9!

And you had to have the new purple Nike's (or pink, light blue, or any other wild color, lol) to go with the Jordache jeans and baseball style T-shirt with a glittery rainbow anything ironed on it. Or maybe you paired them with the sleek stirrup pants. 2 pairs of slouch socks on each foot (different colors of course) optional, but they did look great with the stirrups.

The funny thing is my mom just bought my 2 yr old niece a little pair of black stirrup pants at Dillards (I think). I swear I used to have the exact same pair of pants (in a bigger size of course, lol :rotfl:)

OH yeah the stirrup pants I forgot about those..I has them in so many colors!
sad part was that i have such long legs that they were stretched so bad to were there was a gap where the stirrup was and my ankle :rotfl:

You guys are bringing back the memories for me! I remember all of these things!!!

Weren't Gunne Sak and Jessica McClintock one and the same?

What were your favorite perfume/cologne scents?

I purchased a Shalimar knockoff in a high end department store and for the life of me can't remember what it was. I loved that perfume!

I wore Charlie and Love's lemon and Sweet Honesty. There were quite a few that I'd have to look up as their name escapes me.

I didn't wear much, for whatever reason, but I do remember wearing my mom's Jontue on my first-ever date. To this day, one whiff of that rockets me back to 1988 like nobody's business. :thumbsup2

Ok, how about the t-shirts with the big words on them:

Frankie Says Relax -Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Choose Life - Wham

Am I missing any others, b/c those are the only two I remember.

And what about the flat low cut suede boots. Both the guys and the ladies were wearing them. I saw them in the JC Penny's catalog recently and am glad to see them back.

Gunne Saks were so feminine - I wanted one, never got one, but sure wanted one. They were spendy back then. My DD loves anything 70's. I wonder if she would like one, I could relive my dream dress thru her. They were so dreamy.....ahhhhh

ETA: Just remembered that I desperately wanted Colors de Benetton perfume...I think I might have gotten some for a birthday or Christmas from my grandparents one year.

Did anyone else wear Pasta clothes? I had a killer mint-green Pasta rugby shirt that I absolutely adored.

5-7-9...yeah, I was more of an 11-13-15 girl myself!:rotfl2:

I call them the peter pan booties! I've seen them at the malls

How about the wavy bottom shoes (the soles were wavy and thick)
Dorothy Hamill Hair
Izod shirts - the preppie look
Prairie skirts

Apparently I was a total preppy because 2 of my favorite accessories back then were:

The add-a-bead necklace:

and of course the bermuda bag with interchangeable covers. All the rage!

Wow, just finished reading most of this thread.

Some of these things mentioned seem more mid to late-80s to me or maybe my area was just slow?

I graduated high school in 1981 so I wasn't really in high school during what I call the "true 80s" when all that weird stuff came out. My kids are constantly asking me "Did you wear that in the 80s, did you wear this?" And I have to remind them that even though I graduated high school in 1981, that true "change" hadn't happened yet. Hence, the Levi's and iron on shirts and not much else. By the time the whole 80s craze hit, I was probably about 23 and working in an office.

I wore a Gunne Sax dress to my 8th grade dance. It was revolting- mint green and lace. I so wan't a girly girl, but it was hip!
How about earrings? I had these big, plastic high heeled shoes earrings.I also had telephones- they hung from your ear and the cord went around and attached to the back. Today, phones don't even have cords!
I also had to have white Keds. Once they got dirty, I had to have new ones. I also wore Tretons (sp?).

Avon still makes Sweet Honesty! I saw it on their website and had to get some for dd! :)
