Last Trip? It was until we met Food & Wine -- Recap 2/12

While I was browsing, Mark picked up some fine ladies and was having a marvelous time

Mark sure is a player isn't he? Turn your back on him for a minute and he has two women under his arms. :lmao:

Kathy, as always, I have enjoyed your TR and look forward to the next one. Each TR is predictable in it's ending (for the good), but it is something I'm sure all of us here on the DIS love to read; Your tradition of giving away a balloon on your last day in Disney. It is very touching and I have no doubt your father looks down every time you do that and tells the angels with much pride, "That's my little princess." Trust me Kathy, no matter how much a dad's little girl grows up they will always be daddy's little princess. I know my DD always will to me. ;)

Looking forward to the rest of your TR at Marco Island... And pretty soon you will have another TR to share. Need I remind you that you are down to double digits for that trip. :thumbsup2

I'm sad that the Disney part of your vacation is over, but glad to know that you have future trips already in the works! And that picture of Marco Island looks pretty nice, too.

We ate at the Plaza for the first time in September and enjoyed it. I teared up a little when reading about your balloon tradition. I lost my dad last year and it is still so hard every day knowing he's no longer here. That is so nice that you carry on that tradition for your dad each time you go to Disney.

Ah the last walk through MK on a trip is always bittersweet.

It sure is, Pat.

A Plaza burger is my favorite too! :goodvibes

They are so yummy.

I love your sweet tradition and I am sure that boy and his family really appreciate the gesture.

Thank you, Pat. :)

Ohhhh that rain. I hate those downpours, so scary.

They scare the you know what out of me.

Looking forward to seeing a bit of Marco. So sorry your time with Nicki was cut short and our hearts went out to her as she went to Boston.

I may try to get it up tomorrow as I understand they are doing major work on the DIS this weekend with some kind of upgrade.

Seems I'm behind at least one update, possibly more...

I think two, but you have a very good reason.

Hopefully this weekend I can catch up on all my favorite threads and "visit" with my friends :)

Thanks, Liesa. :goodvibes

I can't leave that man alone for a second.

I read this on the train intwo work and I was in tears. Thank you so very much Rob...that meant a lot to me. And I was and always will be my daddy's little girl/princess.

Yes, I have to get a PTR started and then we will have a fun-filled Flower & Garden TR with Nicki and Todd.

Marco is just gorgoues. We love it so much.

Thanks, Sarah. It is so hard losing our "dads." It makes me feel good to do this for him every year.

Noooooooooooooo!! It can't almost be over. I just caught up since Christmas just to find out it is almost over. Are you planning another trip yet? I am thinking about it...a solo this time...maybe for flower and garden or food and wine...will I be shot if I go by myself?

I just love how Mark can pick up the women!! Looks like this was a great trip for you both. Can't wait to hear about Marco Island.

Yes, I am going in May and again in October...both times will be with our best friends, Nicki and Todd (Mark will not be going with me in May, but he will in October). I know a lot of people, men and women, who do solo trips. I think you should definitely do it.

Yes, the man has his ways. :) Hopefully that update will come tomorrow.

Aw, such a bittersweet thing to write about your last day. You guys did get so much done! I still have yet to do the Tiki Room or the Liberty boat.

I love that you keep your traditions, from the last meal to the one with the balloon. Such a kind way to keep the memory of your dad alive!

I hope to read more about Marco Island! I also hope that since this wasn't your last trip because you discovered Food and Wine, that it won't be your last TR either! I've very much enjoyed reading along!!

I love going solo! I've done it at all times of the year. Its so nice to just be on your own time schedule. Maybe you can set up some dismeets while you are there?

Thanks, Casey. yes, we got a lot done.

Thanks again; it warms my heart as my Dad did.

Yes, I will be doing a PTR for May and a TR as well. Marco update tomorrow.

One of these days I'm going to do this, Jill. We have to talk at some point to see if our days still overlap in October.

And then saw this sky

:scared1: Looks like a good time to be indoors!

While I was browsing, Mark picked up some fine ladies and was having a marvelous time

But he didn't try on their hats?? I think he's slipping.:rotfl2:

Maybe when I win the lotto. :(

I say that about a lot of things.

It's gotten a little easier over the years, but I still do get misty-eyed when we find that child to give a balloon to. This year, we found a sweet little boy who couldn't have been more than a year old who was dressed as Winnie-the-Pooh for the Halloween Party later that night. His parents were most grateful for our thoughtfulness.

I think we all are! It really is a wonderful thing to do. :goodvibes

And we took a selfie to show how we really felt about leaving our Happy Place

I know that pain!

I hope you'll stick around for that and then I'll probably do a "favorites" or something at the end.

Oh, all right. If you insist. ;)

Yep, let me know. I'm still planning on being there...I'm debating cancelling the cruise and extending the parks but not sure right now.

Sorry I have been MIA lately, it has been a crazy time. I am all caught up on your trip and now it's almost over. :sad2:

I love your last day, all the greats!

I will not lie, I got tear in my eyes when you were describing your balloon tradition. What a wonderful tradition and I am sure your father is smiling while you do it!

I can't even call what I've done "catching up" I've tried :sad1: However, I am more than excited for your upcoming Sis from the Dis trip for Flower and Garden :flower3: I had to attempt to catch up before the new PTR starts :goodvibes Sorry my friend

I'm finally back on the DISboards after a nearly 3 month hiatus due to family health issues. Hope to get caught up on this TR. I'm looking forward to following your latest trip to the World!

What a sweet and wonderful way to end a trip.

Yikes! That is some rain!!!

What a beautiful view to dampen the sadness of leaving disney behind.

nice lunch...another place I need to get to to try yet as well.
I didn't know you went to see the Gator boys too. I will be interested to see what you thought.

Me again... late as usual :lmao: Well besides being really busy (work out of town, school, kids figure skating so on) I think I have been depressed that I have no plans of returning to WDW any time soon.. Until...

Until I realized that F&W is on until Nov 16th this year. Well my husband and I will be in Florida on Nov 14th for a cruise for our 15th wedding anniversary. So I talked with him about maybe going a couple of days earlier to go to F&W. He said yes!! :cool1: But we will have to wait and see if he can get the extra time off before I celebrate... need pixie dust:

Anyway... I love your trip report Kathy! Thanks for sharing! I feel kind of sad that it's coming to an end. But you will have a PTR for your upcoming trips right? :rotfl:

We are also Figment fans! Always a must do for us! :figment:

That clown pool scares the pants off of me... :scared: I would love to stay there one day, but I would be scared of having nightmares of a clown eating me, then spitting me out. haha Other then that a it's a beautiful resort!

I have said it before and I will say it again you guys are so cute and photogenic! Awesome pictures!! Love Lumiere! :artist:

I think that is so super special that you have continued the tradition with the balloon for your dad! You certainly have a heart of gold!

Tired of all this snow and cold weather... stay safe and warm! :beach:

i am SO excited to hear about the gator boys.. this has to be a hoot... I can only imagine Mark...

Hi! I've been reading along trying to catch up for a while and now I'm finally caught up! So sad that your trip is over, I loved reading your trip report and seeing all those delicious pictures of food from Food & Wine! Yum!! I wish I could try one of everything while I was reading along! Especially those peirogies! I really enjoyed reading about your trip! Looks like you and Mark had a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing!

:scared1: Looks like a good time to be indoors!

If I remember correctly, it never rained (until we were on the road).

But he didn't try on their hats?? I think he's slipping.:rotfl2:

I think that would have been a bit uncomfortable. ;)

I say that about a lot of things.

I think it is a common thought among us.

I think we all are! It really is a wonderful thing to do. :goodvibes

Thanks, Mark. :goodvibes

I know that pain!

Don't we all? :(

Oh, all right. If you insist. ;)

Gee, thanks, Mark. :rotfl2:

Definitely want to get together. We have plenty of time, obviously, but I've got a note when it gets closer to making more firm plans for October.

Sorry I have been MIA lately, it has been a crazy time. I am all caught up on your trip and now it's almost over. :sad2:

No worries. How are the kids?

I love your last day, all the greats!

Thank you.

Hi, Jeanette. We've missed you around here. I'm not sure when I'll start the PTR, but I will post on FB when I do.

I'm finally back on the DISboards after a nearly 3 month hiatus due to family health issues. Hope to get caught up on this TR. I'm looking forward to following your latest trip to the World!

Bill, it is so good to see you...I've missed you. I'm so sorry to hear what has been going on with your dad, but glad he is home now and hope things continue to improve.

What a sweet and wonderful way to end a trip.

Thank you so much.

Yikes! That is some rain!!!

It was awful and lasted for a good 90 minutes.

What a beautiful view to dampen the sadness of leaving disney behind.

Isn't it gorgeous?

nice lunch...another place I need to get to to try yet as well.

Jen, you and Claire would love it.

I didn't know you went to see the Gator boys too. I will be interested to see what you thought.

Yes, we did. Mark loves to watch the show. We went on an airboat tour that included a visit with one of the Gator Boys.

Me again... late as usual :lmao: Well besides being really busy (work out of town, school, kids figure skating so on) I think I have been depressed that I have no plans of returning to WDW any time soon.. Until...

Please don't worry...it happens to all of us.

Until I realized that F&W is on until Nov 16th this year. Well my husband and I will be in Florida on Nov 14th for a cruise for our 15th wedding anniversary. Oh I hope DH can get that extra time off. That would be so awesome. Sending lots of pixiedust:

Anyway... I love your trip report Kathy! Thanks for sharing! I feel kind of sad that it's coming to an end. But you will have a PTR for your upcoming trips right? :rotfl:

Yes; I'll do a PTR for both upcoming trips as well as TR's as long as everyone doesn't get tired of me.

We are also Figment fans! Always a must do for us! :figment:

He's just so cute.

That clown pool scares the pants off of me... :scared: I would love to stay there one day, but I would be scared of having nightmares of a clown eating me, then spitting me out. haha Other then that a it's a beautiful resort!

I don't know what they were thinking when they put that pool there.

I have said it before and I will say it again you guys are so cute and photogenic! Awesome pictures!! Love Lumiere! :artist:

I think that is so super special that you have continued the tradition with the balloon for your dad! You certainly have a heart of gold!

You are very sweet.

Tired of all this snow and cold weather... stay safe and warm! :beach:

I have to say it really hasn't been a bad winter...so far. They are calling for some major snow this weekend, but they said that two weekends ago too.

i am SO excited to hear about the gator boys.. this has to be a hoot... I can only imagine Mark...

It was ALL Mark's idea.
