Last Trip? It was until we met Food & Wine -- Recap 2/12

Last year at food and wine they sold these little trays to carry your food and adult beverage in so you could walk around and nibble with ease to answer your question. Hope you are feeling better.

That would be awesome to have!

How I missed F&W last year!!!!! Everything you got looks sooo delicious...especially the drinks! How fun running into Tim and Mel!! That was sweet of them to get you the rum sampler.

I was blown away by the food and the drinks. It was great being able to see Tim and Mel again before they went home the next day.

I  your Dumbo purse!

Jill in CO

Thanks, Jill. That is a D' original.

I have had that drink in France and it is strong. You tried some really great dishes!!

I'm glad it wasn't only me on the strenght of the drink. But I sure liked it.

Awesome update!!! I'm on my phone reading so replay more later

Thanks, Mo.

I love all the anniversary photopass pics - you two are so cute and obviously having a great time!

Thanks, Phil. If you can't have a great time at Disney, I think it is hopeless.

You got around to quite a few things - walking around during F&WF is definitely one of life's great pleasures.

It sure is and can't wait to do it again.

I too love the train set! My dad was big model railroader so it makes me think of him when we see it and especially love enjoying it with my kids

It's so nice to have things like your dad and the model railroads to reflect on while seeing it at Disney with family.

That special drink in France does sounds pretty darn good - especially during hot weather!

If it hadn't been so hot and I hadn't drank it so fast, I think I would have splurged on number two.

Glad you met up with Tim and Mel and that was very thoughtful of them to get you that gift from the cruise. :goodvibes

It really was very sweet of them to think of us.

I love this picture. Your hair looks super cute pulled back like that!

Thanks, Mary Ellen. I'm told I look like my mom when I pull my hair back like that. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot that I had to pull it back.

I love the movie in France. Makes me kind of sad to see pictures of the film today when I think about this week's terrorist attacks.

That was so devastating. :(

So this actually a slush that is strong? As in heavy on the alcohol? Then I want that one!

Oh yes it is! You must try on your next F&W.

Fun meet with Tim and Mel. Nice gift. I really wanted to try that rum when we were in the Bahamas.

Thanks, Mary Ellen.

Oh my, that drink looks fabulous!!! The French seem to like their drinks strong... and who am I to argue.

They sure won't get an argument out of me.

You guys and your photopass photos. Too stinking cute. :cutie:

Is it okay at our age to be cute?

So interesting that the Schofferofer Grapefruit beer seemd to be a favourite of everyone. I feel deprived.

You will have to try it in October. We'll even have one with you.

That gift is so sweet. Too much technology can be too much sometimes, but the friendships people can make via an internet message board sure does make up for it. :goodvibes

My kids used to think we were nuts meeting "internet message board" friends at Disney or on Marco Island (Nicki). Then Andy met Nicki and totally understood. :lmao::lmao: I agree with you wholeheartedly, Rob.

:welcome: I am always delighted to have a new reader.

That museum exhibit looks really cool!

Sarah, it really was. I'm so glad we finally saw it.

You really got so many great photopass pictures. I especially like the one in Morocco!

Thanks. :)

Those french slushies are too strong for me. When we went a few years ago my sister and I split the Grand Marnier and Citron slushies, and ended up giving them to Michael. I wanted to like them, but they were just too much for me!

I like the Grand Mariner one; sorry they are too much for you.

That Belgian waffle looks awesome, and I'm so jealous that you got another cronut!

I could have eaten Cronuts all day.

Great Updates Kathy The scallops and the potato pancake looked yummy:goodvibesHow awesome you met up with Tim and Mel ~~ I loved the pix of the Disney Tree I Blue and Silver and all your pix too !!

Thanks, Rosie. The scallops and potato pancake were definitely in my top five. I loved meeting up with Tim and Mel again. It was a gorgeous tree.

You guys take such great cute pictures!

Thanks, Jen.

Too bad you didn't have a great piece of meat. We had it one of the days and it was great! I don't like fish, but Craig really enjoyed the trout as well.

LeCellier just has been a huge disappointment for us. But then we love Yachtsman and they just don't compare.

Glad you enjoyed the F&W. I have done it twice now and absolutely love it! I would love to go again!

I'm glad we enjoyed it too. I just hope it doesn't end up hurting my pocketbook every year. :scared1:

Can't wait to see more... which was your favourite food item at F&W?

I have to say that my favorite was the one Boeuf bourguigon in France, with the scallops a very close second.

Your trip around the world just keeps on getting better and better. I'd say the food looks like it was the highlight, but it most certainly must have been meeting Tim and Mel! What a treat!

:love::grouphug:

Yes, the slushies are amazing!! So, SO yummy. I may try something different this time just to keep mixing it up, but I'd get another of those in a heartbeat as well.

You really ate around the world. :rotfl2: You had some great items there.

I loved the short ribs the last time they had them. Yummy

The passionfruit martini....... Oh yes that has to be mine this year.

Nice PP. They got some really nice shots.

The archives look really net - hope they decide to come "south". :goodvibes

I hope you're feeling better!

Thank you, Sarah; still have a cold, but back at work today.

I love the pictures from the Disney Archives Exhibit! I wish they would bring something like that to NY...
The pictures you got are great, too!

We really enjoyed the exhibit.

I LOVE that Lumiere! It looks a lot like the one you get at BOG dinner (which is technically not Lumiere ... but it certainly looks like Lumiere).

Do you know in the three dinners that we've had at Be Our Guest, we have never seen the Lumiere. :confused3

Glad to hear you enjoyed France! All the photopass pictures are great!

Thanks. :)

Is that a Pikachu hat Mark tried on in Japan? Cute!

Yes it is.

The beer/food from Germany and Poland all looks good ... I'm glad Mark enjoyed one of the beers, even if he didn't like them all.

He liked the grapefruit one the best, enjoyed two of the others an the last one just didn't please.

Another cronut ... yum!

Heaven on a plate!

So nice that you ran into Tim and Mel again! The picture is kinda funny with them all dressed up and you guys in park clothes. It was nice of them to get you a gift from their cruise!

It was funny and I was afraid to hug them.

Another wonderful day.
The food looks yummy, but I think I would be more than tipsy if I drank all that beer. :rotfl2:

But see we ate plenty before we got to the beer so he had enough food in him....I think. ;)

Glad you did get another meet up with Tim and Mel the night before too.

I am too. :goodvibes

Looks like a fun visit to the Disney Vaults.

It was fun and informative.

What a fun birthday present!

I love him...he is on the center of my dining room table now.

Yay for Fun around the world showcase!

It really was fun.

Hope you're feeling better!

I am...thanks, Mark.

That looked like such a neat exhibit. And the MSI is still the best science museum I've ever seen.

I remember that you and the kids really liked the MSI.
I'm glad that besides our Blackhawks that Chicago has something winning.

Always good to know they're thinking of you! Was he buttering Mom up for $$? :rotfl2:

I think he was just being nice. I have to admit that since Andy graduated high school (10 years ago) he has never asked me for a dime.

Sounds tasty!

So good!

Sure. If you're going to sleep off the alcohol, might as well go to an air-conditioned theater. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

Trust me, I probably did nod off a time or two.

That looks really good.

We really only had two bad things the entire Food & Wine.

Glad you got to see them again! And you two covered a ton of ground in Epcot. That's a lot of walking, so I can definitely understand feeling hot and tired.

We were so happy; we got to chat without kids for a little bit and it was very nice. Oh...we were more than hot and tired at that point.

:thumbsup2

It was very nice of them to think of us.

I really like this picture of the two of you. When I first saw it, it looked to me like your anniversary button is hanging over the border banner.

Thanks, Dee...I appreciate that.

You guys are rocking the F&W booths!

I want to try to be a bit more adventurous in October and try a few more.

Others have commented recently about the decline in the quality of the food at Disney, but it seems like most of the items at the booths were really well done.

:thumbsup2

With the exception of the filet in Canada and the beef empanada that we had the first day, everything was exceptional.

And even if not, give me a couple of those martinis from France (oh, Passionfruit, how do I love you, let me count the ways...) and I'm sure everything will taste fine. Or I won't care. Either way.

Oh how I could have gone for one of those drinks after work today.

It has been years since I have seen Impressions de France, but your pictures (or whenever I hear any of the music from the show) bring me right back!

We try to see that one every other year at least.

The photopass picture from France is great too, with the muted background.

Thanks again.

The rums were such a nice gift!!! I have had the rumcakes from Tortuga (YUM) but never the actual rum.

:goodvibes

Oooh...I bet Mark would like the rumcakes.

Your trip around the world just keeps on getting better and better. I'd say the food looks like it was the highlight, but it most certainly must have been meeting Tim and Mel! What a treat!

:love::grouphug:

Liesa, it was so much fun eating around the world. And then to have the pleasure of seeing Tim and Mel again during the trip (I think you joined late and probably missed the update where we met Tim, Mel and the kids for the very first time) and spending a bit more time with them was icing on the cake.

Yes, the slushies are amazing!! So, SO yummy. I may try something different this time just to keep mixing it up, but I'd get another of those in a heartbeat as well.

If you go to Downtown Disney, try the Bailey's Shake at Raglan Road. :)

You really ate around the world. :rotfl2: You had some great items there.

We did really well for our first time, yes?

I loved the short ribs the last time they had them. Yummy

Oh how I wish I'd had them both days. I hope they are back in October.

The passionfruit martini....... Oh yes that has to be mine this year.

You will love it.

Nice PP. They got some really nice shots.

Thanks, Pat.

The archives look really net - hope they decide to come "south". :goodvibes

I'm so glad we were able to finally get there...just before it left.

Hi Kathy! I've been making my way around the DIS this week getting caught up everywhere. I kind of dropped off for a while after my December trip because I was really busy at work plus feeling the Disney blues since I'm not going back for a while. I'm all caught up here now so hopefully I'll be able to stay caught up for a while. I'm really enjoying the Food and Wine pictures!

I got behind and I have no excuse for it. What an enjoyable day and evening at Epcot! I can think of no better way to have fun than to eat and drink my way around World Showcase. Every single picture that you took of the food makes my mouth water.

I don't think we could have asked for a better day, Lisa. It was just great all around. The food was so yummy.

I am asking you to keep good thoughts, pray, whatever it is you do when there is trouble for very good DIS friends of ours. IheartDDuck's dad is having bypass surgery right now and we all want him to have a good surgery and smooth recovery. Mark and I met them late last year (it was before our September trip), and they are wonderful people.

Popadon...love you and wishing you a full recovery.

Hi there,

Fairly new around these boards... But long time Disney lover.

I literally just spent an hour reading your trip report and cant wait to see what other adventures you and your adorable husband got into.

You two look like a lovely couple, such fun spirits. :goodvibes
I always admire people who've been married that long. My 8 year relationship pales in comparison :rotfl2: and sadly, my spouse only "kinda likes" Disney but not nearly as much as I love it... :earboy2:

We are planning our ultimate disney trip for 2017 and plan on renting points for a 1 bedroom at AKLV! Your photos make me even more excited!
Definitely going for a split stay too, just cant decided between POFQ, Poly DVC, or GF Villas...

But anyway... I look forward to the rest of the trip.

This is going to be a short update because I have to leave the office by 4:20 for an appointment and then won't get a chance to do anything tonight.

When I last updated, we had just gotten a final Cronut on the trip.

We had one more attraction to do before we left that we had not done in our previous visits to Epcot on this trip.

I had to see Figment and more importantly I had to pay tribute to

I will not lie...I shed a few tears as I stood and looked at this comedic genius. Such a shame. :sad2:

We proceeded to go ride and sing along

And we had exited. Say what you will, but I love Figment and Journey...I just wish they'd bring Dreamfinder back.

We decided at this point that we were ready to leave. We'd been going since early a.m. and Mark really needed a rest since we would have a long drive the next afternoon and I had packing to do.

I needed a fountain picture before we left

We walked to our car, got in and soon were pulling up to our home

While I packed, Mark was going to relax in the hot tub for awhile, so I got some pictures of the main pool which I had avoided up until now because of that nasty clown slide

This is the quiet pool which we finally found

Where you get drinks at the main pool

Happy hubby

Sorry...I am NOT being spit out of that

Pictures as I walked back to the room

Continued in next post

Continuing back to the room

I went back to the room, packed up everything but what we needed for the morning. Mark came back about an hour later, showered, and then we decided to go stroll down the Boardwalk and grab a bite to eat.

We weren't starving since we'd been pigging out all afternoon at Food & Wine, so we just split a cheeseburger and fries from the stand on the Boardwalk

And evening picture by the pool as we strolled

I know we hit the gift shop on the Boardwalk and the sweet shop, but I have no picture proof.

Up next, our final day at the Magic Kingdom and some traditions

And I forgot one thing.

I want to wish my wonderful husband, Mark, a terrific Happy 62nd Birthday tomorrow. The man that makes me laugh, cry from that laughter, smile, sing and dance, and who tries on more silly hats than anyone I know, here's hoping for a much better year for you my dear. I love you honey.

I love all the hotel & pool pictures (just not so much the clown)!

Happy birthday, Mark! I hope he has a wonderful year!

Once again Kathy, I'm lagging behind posting on your TR; however, I don't miss a day reading up on it. Mark sitting in that hot tub is an excellent idea. As sore as I am feeling right now ( after all I am a year older now) and as long as this week has been, a good soaking would be great.

Send my Happy Birthday Wishes to Mark. :cake:

Boo for the last night! The clown really is freaky!

Happy Birthday Mark!
