princess::upsidedow is LTP

I'm absolutely deadbeat over here and ready for bed. Catch you all tomorrow...

No, it wasn't you I was talking about, but the other two gals who posted something and we haven't seen them on this #10 thread and they weren't on my very limited experience on #9 thread.

It's obvious you are well versed in the LTP land!

Ahhhh good to know-nice to be welcomed back once again! :cutie:

:faint: So I'm finally here today. It's been a long day. I was supposed to do a focus group, but it was out in Rosemont and I couldn't find the freakin building!

I know that Feeling all too well-I use to get lost here all the time-we use to live in Wisconsin -moved here in 2006-every darn road in downtown ATL is peachtree this or that

and the traffic is sooo bad here its frustrating-I mean I've experienced Chicago traffic before many times-but this traffic is soooo much worse-its hard to believe! pirate:

Well, what made it worse was that I was taking public transportation and walking from the El station to where I thought the building was. So, yeah, not fun. Chicago traffic sucks, though.

:lmao: A good friend of mine is from Georgia and told me all about the Peachtree nonsense. That would drive me nuts. Where in Wisconsin did you guys live? We have family up there and my parents own land in the north woods of the state. :hippie:

Hello Everyone!

Good Morning, Afternoon or middle of the night, depending on where you are!

It sounds like you and Fran can afford to live really well with income coming in from the rentals. I guess you've said that it gets hard because Fran seems to buy things off ebay a lot. That must be very frustrating to know that if you stuck to your budget, you'd be very comfortable.

Thank god that since we're broke right now she has turned the tables and instead of buying stuff is now selling stuff like crazy! :thumbsup2 The problem is that even though the rentals bring in good money, this building with the vacant unit is one AMAZING money pit! We were fixing up the unit the other day, and we opened the dining room windows because it was hot and they fell off the hinges. Now the whole window needs to be replaced. I met a guy out there this morning who will give me a quote later today.

Earlier this year, we converted all the fuse boxes over to circuit boxes at $1000 a pop, with seven of them that was a costly expense. A new heater in the front unit another couple $1000, a new heater needed for unit #2, waiting on the quote, but probably a couple $1000 :scared1: We have to redo the sprinkler system because not all the plants are getting water and they are dying. The list goes on. Her father didn't fix anything over there for years. The place is probably infested with termites....it's a total nightmare

Glad to hear that both MIL and DS are doing well. Yes, getting a uniform on will be interesting. Does this mean that you're back at work?

It's 8.33 am in Melbourne; so definitely "good morning" from me! ;)

Alison - this is for you!! And for everyone else that enjoys food!

This is what we ate at Vue de Monde.

These were the nibblies available on the table, whilst we were deciding what we were going to do for dinner. Olives, yoghurt dip and sweet potato crisps.

EleanorHoliday20100824012.jpg

We decided on a 5 course degustation, with one of the courses being dessert.

The night kicked off with an Amuse Bouche. The waiter called this their house muesli. The plastic packet below the muesli was a cool pack. I think I tasted liver, nuts and cheese in the muesli.

EleanorHoliday20100824019.jpg

First course was one of the two highlights of the night for me. This is a plate of salad, vegies all grown at the restaurant's own vegie patch. The white cream cheese looking clumps is actually olive oil foam.

EleanorHoliday20100824022.jpg

Second course was also delicious. This was a perfectly cooked and runny duck yolk, bedded on hollandaise, served with cheese crisps and a tarragon sauce.

EleanorHoliday20100824026.jpg

We had a palate cleanser next. This one is cucumber icecream and frozen cucumber juice, shaved. I will say that the palate cleansers stole the show for me and this one was amazingly refreshing.

EleanorHoliday20100824030.jpg

This was the third course, and one of the two highlight courses of the night.
Western Australian Marron (a type of crayfish) with duck tongue. Accompanying dip was of an apple variety - it was delicious!

EleanorHoliday20100824032.jpg

Fourth course was my least favourite. This was beef cheek, with nettles and a potato cake. There was no flavour to the beef cheek and the potato cake was overly salty. I know you were meant to eat the two together - but even then it was still overly salty.

EleanorHoliday20100824034.jpg

DH, being vegetarian, got served a different fourth course. He got barramundi with champagne foam!

EleanorHoliday20100824037.jpg

Another palate cleanser followed - house lemonade. The popsicle was a banana icecream topped with pop-rock candy. This was a FUN palate cleanser.

EleanorHoliday20100824041.jpg

And to get us in the mood for dessert, we were served another palate cleanser....celery sorbert with cream cheese flakes. I couldn't believe how delicious the celery sorbert was.

EleanorHoliday20100824049.jpg

Our fifth course was a marshmallow souffle, with chocolate icecream. This was really delicious as well.

EleanorHoliday20100824052.jpg

And for afters, they brought out this plate of tasters. Lemon jubes, orange/chocolate sticks, lemon curd to eat with crepe crisps and....

EleanorHoliday20100824054.jpg

Chocolate mousse lamingtons!

EleanorHoliday20100824060.jpg

And whilst we were thinking about the bill (and a tip), we got marshmallows.

EleanorHoliday20100824063.jpg

Enjoy!

Ah, okay! I actually went to school in Waukesha for two years, so I'm familiar with the Germantown area, but not Arbor Vitae. Our family's spread out over the state, but mostly in Rusk and Door Counties, as well as some family in Janesville and Green Bay. The land my parents own is near Ladysmith, if you know where that is :)

Is it bad that the only things that look interesting to me on there are the marshmallows? :duck:
