Too bad! I'm going to share anyway.
After the entire nation voted yesterday (mandatory vote here over the age of 18) and a whole night of ballot box counting, the result is.....
we don't know which party will be governing Australia! We have two major parties here - the Liberals and the Labour party; and then a couple of minor parties and anyone can stand as an Independent. Not sure how it translates to your Democrats and Conversatives; but the Labour party favours Unionism and the Liberals favour Big Business and Capitalism.
For the first time in 70 years, we could have a hung parliament. A major rule would mean that one party or the other has won 76 seats in parliament. This morning, the count was Liberals think they have won 72 seats; Labour think they have won 71 seats. There are 3 seats too close to call. There is also 1 Green Party member and 4 Independents. We still have to wait until all the postal votes come in...but it may well be that the governance of Australia lies in the hands of the 1 Green Party member and the 4 Independents!
Interesting times ahead!
