Wow, that hotel is gorgeous!

And I'm off work on Monday and Tuesday, so I may stop at the store and pick up some batteries for my camera before running downtown and such :)

In the days before cell phones, we used to arrange to meet our friends under the Flinders Street Station clocks. "Meet you there" at such and such a time; and then we would hope that our friends remembered to pitch up. The facade of this building is pretty...and at night, it is lit up in that yellow/orange colour.

Our city is much like any other city....

It just has some beautiful historic buildings amongst the modern buildings. And we've managed to retain a fair amount of them, as you can see. I'm only posting a smattering of the buildings that fit the scavenger hunt categories....

We have a river that cuts Melbourne into North and South. The southern side is where the hoi polloi live. The river is called the Yarra river. It's a lot cleaner now than it was 20 years ago and there is a bit more of this sort of thing going on the Yarra for the tourists.

Just south of the River is the Arts Precinct. I took this to fit the category "row of flags" (but didn't use it). The round building is the Concert Hall and the building behind it, that has the spire, is the Arts Centre. The Arts Centre contains the Playhouse, Hamer Hall (general purpose) and another theatre for the ballet. It's our arts season now - symphony orchestra, opera, ballet, plays - and the concert halls get very busy. After the Arts Centre, is the National Gallery of Victoria. We have the European Masters on display there. I'll try and get better pictures of the arts precinct in the next couple of weeks.

Oh, I love that picture... That's beautiful :lovestruc

That about covers my range of photos in photobucket! I'm aiming to take some more around town....if you're interested, I'll post some of the ones I don't use on the photography board....

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I better get my annual leave approved on Tuesday. And then I'm hunting down air fare deals!!

I can't put my vacation in yet, as I'm sure that my boss will forget about it by then :lmao:

But yeah, I'm booked at Pop from 10/24-29 with the basic dining plan and I so can't wait :goodvibes

It's up to you :) I'm just watching Bones :teeth:

It tends to only stay blue. It's a pity that they don't change the colour like the MK castle :rotfl:

That would be awesome if it did :) We have these fountains in downtown Chicago that have digital faces on them and then spit water at you. They're kinda cool, but kinda creepy.

Given that Alison doesn't seem to be around, let's get back to PTR....

The conference is at CSR; so we'll be staying there. DH says that his breakfast and lunch is covered as part of the conference costs. I wonder if I'll be allowed to go on the Dining Plan....if so, I hope to go on the basic plan as well.

Okay :) I know I won't be spending much time in the room, so I figured Pop would be fine for me (I don't like how far the All-Stars are). I'm sure you can email or call Guest Services and find out :) Even if they can't let you go on it alone, you may be able to use his TS credits by doubling up for Signature restaurants or something. Do you think that would work?

I have to load them into photobucket first; so it won't be today...

Okay :) Just saying :goodvibes

Well y'all don't have to keep me entertained....I'm going to feed the kids and then to :cloud9:

Between the concert and this party I have coming up, I have to go to bed by 1AM :lmao:

I'm not sure how his meals work. I don't think that the meals are standard "disney plan". It's only breakfast and lunch and even then I would assume that lunch is brought into the conference facilities. When DH travels, he is allowed a $30 a day meal allowance. So, if there is no Disney plan, his dinners would be partially funded by the company.
Either way, it's fine with me. There's really only me to worry about for food.

I've only ever heard great things about Pop and it was a close thing between Pop and POR when I went in May. I only picked the hotels we stayed at because of the discounts. I figured that with a 45% discount, I needed to go for it. Unlikely that I would never get to stay in a Deluxe again if I had to pay full rack rate. You'll have to take pictures and show me :)

Sleep well Alison. And enjoy your long weekend. Happy 4th of July!

Well, what I meant was that I'm just not sure if Guest Services would let just you be on the dining plan, you know? There's no law against asking them, though, especially considering that your DH would be there for the conference.

I've stayed at Pop before, actually. It's the only on-site hotel I've ever stayed at :rotfl: I don't think I could afford to stay Deluxe unless it wasn't just me and I had a good discount, or it was for something special (honeymoon or something).

I definitely will :)
