When did Disney start cruising to Greenland? This thread is on steps but so far I’m not seeing anything we’d need to remove. If it turns into a political debate or name calling then absolutely! At that point it’d be off topic and not about cruising. These folks have said they don’t intend to cruise due to Greenland/US relations and other reasons without getting into it. Fine, nothing to argue about, their choice, same as some folk don’t want to go anywhere near some other countries at present due to military actions.
It only goes one way.Be nice to see a moderator remove the political/TDS/BS in here.
They don’t (at least not yet) but they do cruise to the EU, and shaky relations make some put off travel until things seem more stable again. We’ve not changed our plans, but I know many others have. When did Disney start cruising to Greenland?
More likely someone making an irrational statement to get a reaction. They don’t (at least not yet) but they do cruise to the EU, and shaky relations make some put off travel until things seem more stable again. We’ve not changed our plans, but I know many others have.
No, it doesn’t. I have been trying to only step in when things become a debate, or attacks groups or certain people. It only goes one way.
… I am literally telling you I know people personally who have changed their plans. ABD has had many cancellations for this summer, more than usual. My friend got their passport in six days. I’ve no doubt some are blowing smoke but I have enough evidence that it is not all fake. I’m not going to keep arguing with you about it.More likely someone making an irrational statement to get a reaction.
Why because they are worried we're going to war with Europe.… I am literally telling you I know people personally who have changed their plans. It’ll be interesting to see how well the 2027 cruises book and how many discounts we continue to see.
Which location are you thinking about?Related to Europe summer cruise.. is it better to wait for a Guaranteed stateroom rather than booking early? Or too much of a risk?
Americans are also fickle in that we book and then change our minds…. My Panama Canal cruise this April was an almost instant sell out but lots of rooms opened up later when the east bound one showed up. More when PIF came, etc.
I booked a room on the PC cruise in April and ended up cancelling as flights were crazy as it’s over Easter. Also I don’t really want to sail from Galveston. I think this one booked fast as it was the first one in a long time and no one knew if there was going to be another. Then the other two cruises released and people pivoted to them. (I haven’t rebooked a PC yet as really I want to sail from San Diego but the late 2026 one didn’t work date wise.)This has been a problem with the unique DCL itineraries (like Panama Canal) for years now. I think it's much less so people "changing their minds" and more just the Pearl/Platinum folks booking a room opening day on these sailings just so they have a spot (and at the opening price) even though in many cases they know at the time that it's probably less than 50/50 that they will actually go on the cruise. It's a "just in case" booking.
We bought as soon as flights were released and did not find them that bad, but we also have a nonstop from our city which are hard to come by and tend to be more affordable. First class upgrades are still dirt cheap on the flight... maybe this nonstop is also not long for this world. ^^; I'm not excited to sail from Galveston per se but we're happy to get some good BBQ and breakfast tacos and pop into NASA while we're at it. I was tempted to switch to eastbound but the price was about the same and the port times not so much better it was worth the hassle, so we stayed put. Super glad now as my husband needs a break sooner rather than later! Our last few trips have been intense schedule-wise... I can't remember the last time we took it slow.I booked a room on the PC cruise in April and ended up cancelling as flights were crazy as it’s over Easter. Whereas the TAs don’t see to have that issue since they run every year and people know that.
The last few years GT rates were out before PIF date. They started dropping in January. I would see what goes on this year. The cruise that goes to Croatia was selling really well. I was originally booked on that until switching to NCL. My cruise on NCL has gone up a lot. Croatia seems to be a hot destination right now. If the cruise goes there or some place else that is new I would book early. For the generic stuff I wouldn't rush into it.Related to Europe summer cruise.. is it better to wait for a Guaranteed stateroom rather than booking early? Or too much of a risk?
Germany makes up most of the EU economy and they have been in a recession for three years. The dollar is still the reserve currency. Prices fluctuate with the dollar and it really won't make a difference.Another factor which may affect European cruise bookings is the fact that the US dollar has dropped about 10 percent against Euro over the last year, which will add significant costs to any Americans travelling in Europe. Then again, the gains of both the Euro and the pound against the dollar may make summer prices more attractive to UK and European cruisers so those factors may average out demand.
