Just taking a break from getting stuff ready for the picnic tonight!

We did get a little good news. We had tried to reserve our local park for our picnic but it was already reserved by a local church for their Bible school picnic. So we were just going to set up tables in the garage bays at the fire department and grill out there. Well, the Bible school cancelled their picnic, and knew that we had wanted the park so they called to say we can have it! It'll be nicer for the kids because of the playground equipment. (The park is directly across from the fire department.)

yup, DH says it looks like the robot from one of those 80's movies? I told him I wasn't that old he said I just couldn't remember!!!

It was DH, DD (17) and me at the 10:45 pm show and boy was I tired when we got out!!

no talking the first 30 minutes or so, but it was funny and cute.

I love watching pixar movies on the big screen

Right now the weather is beautiful but it's overcast and you can see the rain clouds in the distance. Maybe the clouds will head another way! But at least if the weather does turn a little nasty we can still use the fire department!

The weather report doesn't really look very promising:

"Some sun with clouds building; More afternoon/evening thunderstorms, some strong with damaging winds and large hail; West wind 5-15 mph"



The bikers are running late this year. Usually the first ones pass our house by 11 and none have come by yet. As soon as the first one goes by A.J. and I will go down to the fire department for about an hour to help there.

Pixar movies are great! I like the way there are so many funny things that just go right over kids heads but the adults catch them!

The Sheriff just went by with his lights on and blew his horn so I assume the bike racers are right behind. Time for me to head out.

It is really HOT today! I feel sorry for all these bike racers going by! WHEW!

I'm back from the fire department and just thought I'd take a quick break from the cooking.

Tonight's menu is:
Burgers
Hot Dogs
Potatoe Salad (fixed by the deli)
A Veggie Salad in Italian Dressing (also fixed by the deli)
Pasta Salad with a Ranch Dressing Base (that I'm fixing)
Baked Beans (mine - of course )
A Fruit Salad with Watermelon, Cantaloupe and Grapes

I didn't do anything for dessert, I thought the fruit should be enough but then someone asked me about dessert when I was at the fire department and I started to worry about dessert. Oh well, too late now!

Just taking a little break from the HOT kitchen. I'm down to just needing to cut the cantaloupe and watermelon.

DH just took the grill down to the fire department. You really have to wonder sometimes....we bought a new grill a few months ago and it's one of those huge ones, not very portable at all! So, he was going to take the old grill down to the fire department. We haven't used it for a while so he wanted to make sure it still worked. So, he started it. Yup, works fine. Well, since it's on might as well heat it up and clean it. Okay, all cleaned. Ready to transport down to the fire department. Ouch, it's hot! Well, DUH! What else would you expect?? So, he had to let it cool down before they could load it into the truck!

One flaw in today's plans...the potatoe salad is disgusting! Potatoes aren't all cooked so some are hard! Plus it was very dry so I had to doctor it up! 12 pounds of potatoes salad!!

At least the deli made it and not me but since I'm still doing the food it will still look bad on me. But it's going to be worse on the deli - a poor advertisement for the deli!
