Thats alot still. Incredible. Land isnt worth that much in my mind.

Land/Home Ownership is completely overvalued in Australia. The problem is that we still have a housing shortage, more immigrants coming in, foreign investors buying; and pretty good economic conditions.

The economy and land both suck here still. I think the housing is trying to make rebound a little bit. We had a home and we sold it upside in a short sale. I dont think I want to buy another one.

One of my neighbours asked me how long we'd been in the area for. We've been here close on 18 years. When we bought, it was a lot different then....housing just seemed so much more affordable. I have no idea how it got to these sorts of crazy prices....and more importantly, I have no idea how any one affords to buy houses at these crazy prices without a HUGE mortgage.

We might be at the other end of the scale compared to the US; but the economy makes buying houses/land sucky as well.

DH and I keep saying that if we had to buy a house today, we wouldn't.

Thats why I said I am last to be first. I asked chris one day how do you really value the price of land. Just because someone says it is worth xyz how did you really come up with that? It got so out of control.

If you ask the realtors in Oz, they will answer that you never really value land. It comes down to how much someone wants to pay for it....and how much someone will sell it for.
