School holidays are working out fine. Because I work 3 days a week and DH works from home, it never seems to be the issue for us that it seems to be for other families:
- The full-time SAHM, who wants to kill the kids by the middle of the first week.
- The full-time workers, who feel guilty that they are working and not spending time with their kids (who are then left in full-time holiday programs).
Particularly this school holiday, we had the music convention, which took care of the first week of school hols.
For next week, I'm taking DS to the movies on Monday and again on Thursday; and because I've made it a point to get into the DS Pokemon games (to keep in touch with him and my nieces and nephews), we can just mooch on the couch and play together anyway. My mum will take him on Tuesday.
He can stay home with DH on Wednesday. No doubt my MiL will drop in on Wednesday and spend some time with DS anyway.
I have a 5 day weekend next weekend. I don't work on Thursdays, Friday is Good Friday; Monday is Easter Monday and Tuesday being Anzac Day.

Then school starts on Wednesday. Worked out pretty well, don't you think?
