Good moaning to you too Queenie! ;)

Did you get up on the wrong side of bed (again)??? :rolleyes1

Nope...just tired of being accused of something that isn't true...pretty simple...

Here's where I was for the music convention.

Scotch College campus in Melbourne. Scotch is one of the most expensive private schools in Melbourne. I think you need about $30K per year to attend. That's for 13 years of junior, middle and high school.....each year! :scared1:

This is the 'old' quadrangle....the classrooms are all around in the buildings.

A view from under that tree in the middle...

And these are only part of the grounds. The building in the way back is the chapel.

We really enjoyed being on the campus!

Just keep in mind that we're all snarky here.....:cool2:
Yep...I can give as good as I get...

Beautiful Campus. So I'm guessing that's where DS goes ;)

I spent my last 2 years of school at one of the best girls schools in Sydney. It was about $10k a year then. It's over $20k now. And I only finished a bit over a decade ago.
The grounds in schools like these are wonderful although it is funny paying that much and learning geography in a room that relies on a single rolling oil heater for heat as it is an historic building :lmao:

Sup wit dat? DS make a mess?

Just doing some house cleaning. With us being out for the convention yesterday, we had to do our chores today. We normally split the duties - I do the bathrooms, kitchen and dusting....DH does the vacuuming and mopping.

All done now. :thumbsup2

Poor DS....he's such a deprived child!

His parents SKI (Spend the Kid's Inheritence) on things like overseas trips and expensive toys.

Ah well....he can pay for his own therapy when he's 30.

Hehe...
I went to both sorts of schools...
I ended up where I did due to a number of issues during 8-10. And I gotta say having that on your resume as the school you 'graduated' from rather than a public school is good in my industry. (snobs galore)
BUT...I reckon a good 'normal' primary school is a good start rather than 13 years at a school like this.

Spending the money on holidays is one of the BEST things you can do for your children. It's what my parents did.

:thumbsup2

So in Oz, are public schools so bad that if possible you should avoid them and go to private schools?

Not that simple. :lmao: :lmao:
There are lots of school options.

There are very bad public schools. There are also dodgy Private schools.
It depends what you're looking for though.
Some public schools are academically superior to many private schools. But a private school offers you superior extra curricular options. More subject offerings too.

Trust me...I've tried them all...
I know where I'd send a child if I had one and had the money. But there are some public schools I'd consider too.

Choosing a school is not simple at all :headache: as I'm sure PIO knows.

So they have a better rugby team? Or Public school's may not even have a rugby team?

We don't necessarily play rugby in the state of Victoria, where Melbourne is. They play rugby in New South Wales, where Sydney is, and Queensland, where Brisbane is.

Australian Rules Football is the ONLY game in Melbourne town, according to some.

As Queenie said, we have a rather convoluted amount of choice by way of schools. My son is in a public school at the moment, it hasn't been bad; but the last 2 years, he's gotten really awful teachers and the choice of Grade 6 teachers for next year is even worse. I think that we will be moving him to a private school next year.

The school we are thinking of sending him to excels in academic and performing arts; the music being one of those extra curricular activities that are provided in a private school way over the expected for a public school.
DS is NOT sporty by any stretch of the imagination; so this school might be a good fit for him.

I don't take notice of any ball sports that involve NON circular balls.... :rolleyes1

For me Music is the main extra curricular activity Private schools provide that I care about. :thumbsup2 There are actually many wonderful community sports programs for kids in Oz...if you are interested in football (soccer for the yanks) and all these other strange ball sports  so you don't need a school for that. Although for sure the school I was at had a superior field hockey team. A very 'private school' sport.

Anyway...I really sorry he's had some bad teachers PIO. I had some real great ones and then some real pieces of work...so much so that I left year 4 mid stream before changing again for year 5. The PE teacher is the perfect choice for year 4 right...esp for a non sporty kid like myself? :confused3
I sympathise.
Hope things improve and you find him a good fit for next year. He seems a wonderful boy :goodvibes

How's school holidays going? :rotfl2:

School holidays are working out fine. Because I work 3 days a week and DH works from home, it never seems to be the issue for us that it seems to be for other families:
  • The full-time SAHM, who wants to kill the kids by the middle of the first week.
  • The full-time workers, who feel guilty that they are working and not spending time with their kids (who are then left in full-time holiday programs).

Particularly this school holiday, we had the music convention, which took care of the first week of school hols.
For next week, I'm taking DS to the movies on Monday and again on Thursday; and because I've made it a point to get into the DS Pokemon games (to keep in touch with him and my nieces and nephews), we can just mooch on the couch and play together anyway. My mum will take him on Tuesday.

He can stay home with DH on Wednesday. No doubt my MiL will drop in on Wednesday and spend some time with DS anyway.

I have a 5 day weekend next weekend. I don't work on Thursdays, Friday is Good Friday; Monday is Easter Monday and Tuesday being Anzac Day. :cool1:
Then school starts on Wednesday. Worked out pretty well, don't you think?

:thumbsup2

I hate when people make signs with lies on them. Because I'm LTP.
