The Tokelau longhouse was added in 1978, and the Tahiti and Rapa Nui longhouses were built during the Polynesian expansion in 1985. Rooms here are the newest, and slightly larger.

Has the Polynesian been renovated?

Yes. The Great Ceremonial House went through extensive renovations in 1996 and 2004/5. A room renovation occurred in the summer of 1996 and continued until the summer 1998. During this time, all rooms were given new paint and bedspreads, and all bathrooms completely renovated in green marble tile. The outsides of all of the longhouses were also repainted, with touches of colorful Polynesian symbols added to the posts and roofs of each longhouse. Longhouses continue to be rehabed as needed. The main pool underwent a complete transformation and reopened in March 2001."
