Hey there Tubaman! Just wanting to say my DS plays tuba in his junior high concert band....trombone for the high school marching band. He basically taught tuba to himself last fall when the band director said they needed a tuba to carry the music for the Christmas concert. He got a 1st at the district band contest in tuba....yep, I'm a proud momma! He started back on trombone for the spring concert, then his teacher pulled him back to tuba...don't get me wrong...he's an excellent trombone player, too. Thanks for letting a momma brag!!

Oh, BTW, now I'm last...again!!

My son got 3rd chair trombone at district last fall...only 13 total chairs and about 45 kids auditioned...the 1st and 2nd chairs were 8th graders...DS is in 7th....He's preparing for the State contest in 2 weeks...competes in solo trombone, piano, voice duet, voice ensemble, junior high band (the whole band), and junior high chorus (the whole chorus). Yep, again, I am a very proud momma.... Of course the only tune I can carry is in a bucket...

oh, and last....but not for long I'm sure!

In the state of Illinois they divide it into districts 6 total I think...we live in the southern part and it's comprised of about 40 different school districts. So, ya get the gist of exactly what an honor it was for him to make 3rd chair...his first year auditioning.

Yep, last again...if only for a fleeting moment in time!!!!
