I have to tell you all what happened to me yesterday...

I was coming home from grocery shopping (about 7:30 p.m.) and as I was coming up our road I was going kind of slow because I was talking on my cell phone. Now you have to remember that coming home on "our" road entails about four miles up the mountain, over the top and then back down the other side about a mile, all very twisty and turny! On the way up the mountain an ambulance came up behind me, no lights or siren though. Very strange to see one out here. So I pulled over to let them pass since I was dawdling anyway.

Our house is on a fairly sharp curve and here I come around the curve and one of our friend's pick-up truck is parked there along the side of the road, partially in the road, near the front of our house. We don't have an actual driveway - our house sits close to the road and we just have the off road parking. Well, at first I didn't think much of it until I saw that he had his hazard lights on. Then it hit me. He's a first responder and would only use his hazard lights like that if he was on a call! Then I noticed two more vehicles that I recognized as first responder vehicles behind his - both with hazard lights on! PANIC!!! I pulled up in front of our house but couldn't park so I stopped in the road. Matthew was on the porch so I yelled to him and asked what happened. He just shrugged his shoulders and said it wasn't for our house - that they were all at the neighbor's house. WHEW!

I passed our house to turn around to come back to find somewhere to park and I passed our neighbor's house. There were three more first responders at our neighbor's house. Very unusual for more than two to go out on a call but six (out of eight) had responded...because when they heard the call go out they thought it was our address. Funny thing is - DH, who is a first responder, was at home and slept through the tones going off and didn't wake up until the ambulance pulled up in front of our house! :lmao:

Well, it turns out that our neighbor was up on the hill behind his house and slipped on wet grass. They think he broke his leg. That reminds me - I need to give them a call and see how he is doing.

WOW!! that would be so scary!! Thank God it wasn't your house though:hug:

it's too funny that your DH slept through it all though:rotfl: and it's good to know they care enough about you guys for 6 outta 8 to show up:goodvibes

::yes:: He can sleep through anything. :lmao: Then again, I guess I can't say too much. Once a drunk wrecked right in front of our house and his jeep rolled end over end down the embankment next to our house. He took off running because he was drunk. It happened around 1 a.m. 'cause I woke up to the dogs barking but that was all I heard. DH came home from work at 7 a.m. and asked what the **** happened. I didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about! :lmao: Turns out they had actually been out looking for this drunk driver because of a report that they had gotten but they were never able to find him. Wonder why! ;) :lmao:

 WOW! I thought I was a heavy sleeper:rotfl:

We hit 5 out of 6 extra magic hour nights.

We went to the water parks 3 days.

Spent one day at the hotel pool.

Saw POTC on Friday at DTD. :thumbsup2

And just relaxed.

Sounds like a great trip Kell!!

I can't wait to go back to WDW:goodvibes I'm so excited to be going this November, but I'm more excited now b/c we're planning a surprise trip in 08. We're not saying a thing about it to Stinky or to my nephew about it. Since it's gonna be her last year in elementary school we're putting an ad in her school year book with her pictures through out the years that she's been there and it's gonna say "Hey Andie! You finally finished elementary school, guess what you're doing now!" "You're going to Disney World!" I know I still have a while to work on the page since she hasn't even started 5th grade yet:rotfl: but I've got it finished already:lmao:

I think I take that award! When my friends had a baby shower for me when I was pregnant with Heather they all joked that I was going to have to have some sort of way of knowing if I had gotten up and fed the baby in the middle of the night because I could probably do it and never wake up or know it. :lmao: But I've always heard the kids during the night. Well, except for the time when DD was 16 and had a kidney stone. She was screaming for me and I never woke up. Finally she dialed our phone number so that the phone next to the bed would wake me up...and it did. She said she had yelled for about 10 minutes! In my defense - our bedroom is upstairs on one side of the house and hers was downstairs on the other side of the house.

"And just relaxed??"" When in the world did you have time to relax between extra magic hour nights, water parks, a day at the hotel pool and PTOC!!!

Sounds like you really had a great time!!

I can just imagine how excited she will be!!

We surprised the kids one time for a Disney trip! We told them we were going to Carowinds (an amusement park in Charlotte) and staying one night. We told them that we were staying one night so that DD wouldn't suspect anything when we loaded some suitcases in the van. Then when we got to Charlotte we pulled over at a rest area and when we were getting back in the van we said, "You know what, we really don't want to go to Carowinds. How about if we go to WDW instead!"
