Continous Positive Airway Pressure(CPAP) -it's a little loud at 1st,but it's a white type of noise and easy to get use to!!!

Man -you have to wait a week!!!! I'd be saying no way-I want it now!!!!!

are they small like a nebulizer (sp?) machine? or will she have a huge thing in her house?

I snore too! It's so embarrassing how loud I can be. I can wake myself up! :lmao: But at least now I know there's a reason so I don't have to be embarrassed.

But when I was on the CPAP machine at the hospital I did not snore at all!

that's because your airway wasn't closing down on itself-glad to hear that they figured it out so fast and glad to hear that soon relief is in your future!!!:goodvibes

and more oxygen....did he say/ask how your managed this all these years? maybe you are doing something right?

What we've figured is that it's gradually been getting worse over the years but because I only worked very part-time my body adjusted. I could take more naps. I got to the point that I sat around more and did less. Between work and stuff at home I'd be doing about 40-50 hours of stuff a week.

But since I worked the two jobs this summer and then went full-time this fall DH and I have really noticed the change. All I have energy for is the 40 hours of work. And if I have a day off I sleep to try to catch up. I have absolutely no energy. The weekend before last I slept 25 hours in a 48 hour period! And I still didn't feel refreshed at all.

Yep!!!it's small like a nebulizer machine-DH see them come thru the airport all the time-they fit in a small carry on bag-and once you get use to them-you can't leave home without them!!!!

I can explain that!!!! It applies positive pressure to your airway as you sleep -it fits over your nose and it stimulates you to keep breathing by keeping the airways open as you breath in- allowing you a nice restful sleep!!!

Thanks Kim! I knew you could explain it better than I could!!!

I am a mouth breather but when this is on my nose my body is getting sufficient air so I don't have the need to open my mouth to breathe - thus no snoring.

MAn Kathy!!!-you need that machine tonight-isn't there any way to get it earlier than a week???

I'm really glad they figured it out Kathy  hopefully you'll start feeling much better really soon

The machine I had in the hospital was suprisingly quiet. I hope my machine will be as quiet.

I want it now, too. But my insurance will pay differently if I get it from a certain company, through the mail, versus getting it from a local home health provider. The difference is going to be almost $1,000 out of my pocket so I decided I can wait a week. I've waited this long, I guess I can wait one more week.

That's true-too bad they couldn't give you a loaner til your arrived-but either way relief is on it's way-Good News !!!!!:cool1:

It'll fit perfectly on my nightstand. The machine isn't what I've been worrying about having, it's the mask over my nose. How romantic to roll over and see your spouse hooked up to something like that. :sad2: But I finally decided that was the price we were going to have to pay for me feeling better! DH has been so supportive. And after he saw how great I felt the day after my test (after I had used the CPAP machine for a couple of hours) he said it was like having the old me back!

since you'll finally be getting more rest and sleep -you most likely have more energy for lots of things!!!!! besides sleep;)

and we got some Bad news today too

DH didn't get the job offer he wanted-passed all the testing, but for some reason they withdrew their offer-he plans on calling tommorow to ask what the deal is-but it's such a bummer-looks like we wont be buying a house this year after all:guilty: -since he wanted to be hired as Full-Time before we bought a house

I'm so bummed now-from Happy to sad just that quick!!!! Ughhh:headache:

I'm finally reading back...

Kim, I'm so sorry. That is bad news! But maybe he'll find something out tomorrow and find out that it's something simple and fixable. :confused3:

Ok now that i know Kathy's gonna be ok I was able to read back some:rotfl:

goodluck...and tell us details...when, where and with whom?

We're thinking Mom, Andie, my newphew and I in July this year. We're thinking about renting points to go. Oh Liz:rolleyes1 :rotfl:
