but we really would LOVE for the girls to come and experience WDW with us.

their parents are going to Mexico in Dec and when the girls asked if they can go they said "NO!"

They just like being with their kids... it's so sad. They go away all the time and leave the kids behind at the grandparents.

How many children do they have?

I know what you mean. It is so neat to see WDW thru the eyes of a child.

I have a coworker like that....I don't understand it. The best part of my vacation is being with my kids and DH...so school or work or cleaning or cooking to get in the way of family time :goodvibes

But if your doing a good job teaching them who are they to say you shouldn't homeschool.

Trust me, we are having a major problem down here where parents are saying their children are NOT learning. That they are not getting enough one on one attention.

Liz - Keep up the GOOD WORK!!

:thumbsup2 You ARE doing a GOOD JOB!!!

I agree with Lyn. I give you a TON of credit for being able to homeschool your children. Plus you know that they are learning and understanding what you are teaching them.

Just working on a project with DD for school is hard enough.

I am going to be honest, you completely changed my idea of homeschooling. Around here, the people that homeschool seem to be more of the "natural" type and live in areas that don't have, what I would call, basic necessities/sanitary living conditions...and their kids seem to spend quite a bit of time on "life" field trips like going to the beach and grocery shopping :confused3 I may have been exposed to just a few bad apples...but that was what my opionion was, until I met you. And you do such a great job with your kids and they seem to learn so much more than what they would in a traditional setting...and you seem to really care, try and put a lot of effort into schooling them. I give you so much credit for being patient. DH has an education degree and when I tell him what you are doing...he said that is how it should be...he also said that the way people do it out here is :crazy2: They may not understand how hard you work and how much you kids are blossoming :confused3

As a teacher, I have to say, that many of the parents I have met that homeschooled (either here on the DIS or at other places) really are invested and do more than those "life" field trips that you are talking about. I think that if its done correctly, than it can be a great experience.

If I remember correctly the top spelling bee champs have been home schooled.

You are correct. The last 6 years have all been home schooled!!!

I have to go do what I hate the most about teaching.....

Making the "bad" phone calls to parents. :worried:

I much rather make the "good" phone calls.

Maybe I'll be back for a pick me up later.

Have a good afternoon.

 Pam
