They try and send some home-but in my unit,the only place you go from here is up to the floor(to a medical unit) or to the morgue(sad but true) we rarely get to send patients home straight from the ICU-it happens,but it's rare
My little guy got to do that-he went straight home with home care-that's cause he was here for over 3 months
My one DS (now 13) was lucky enough to get to go home straight from neonatal icu. He was at our hospital for two day and only in icu for three days and then got discharged from icu to home.
