Last-minute whim and pipe dreams...

I think I know the answer to this already, but thought I'd give it a try. DW and I (empty nesters) are considering a last-minute whim to head to WDW over Christmas. Naturally, we see that there is no park availability for the week after Christmas. Is there any chance we would still have a chance to get in to one of the parks any of those days--or is that a zero reality game like I think it is? We can find other things to do but was just hoping there might be a small chance.

I was watching the reservation calendar over the last week or two and did notice one of the sold out days that week turn back to yellow (and then back to sold out) so I think it could be possible but I imagine it would be a small chance and also a matter of being online at the right time if maybe someone cancelled a park reservation. Good luck!

I'd guess no, unless you'd be happy doing a resort only trip/Disney springs.

as of right now AK has an opening on 12/27. You could at least start there then possibly park hop. Like the post mentioned above, I've seen the dates change to yellow every few days but it lasts only about an hourish usually so there is a slight possibility but you'd have to check often and make a park reservation ASAP.

Also, even if the calendar says no availability, go ahead and try to make a reservation. People here have said how the calendar isn’t always up to date. Can’t hurt to try!

Don't think I would go unless you can get park reservations unless you are happy with Disney Springs and Resort Hopping.

Remember also that you won't be able to purchase a ticket if all parks are at capacity. Because of this you may need to purchase multiple 1 day tickets which will be more costly, if they even become available at all.

Thanks everyone...I should mention we've been going to Disney for two decades so experiencing the parks is not an absolute must for us. We may simply be content enjoying some mid 70 temps :)

I just looked but I'm AP and I see availability for the full week of Christmas/week after.
