Last Minute Updates to Park Calendars

I know Disney has always tweaked park hours even just a week ahead of time.

But lately, it seems to be out of hand. It is the beginning of May and updated hours for June have not been released.

I am going in July, and AK still says it will close at 5 and 6 and MK is closing every night at 10.

Is this something new? I feel Disney has always had almost solidified park hours a month in advance.

But lately they've waited until several weeks before to update. I'm having a hard time planning my July trip.

Is this just the new way of things? Or is this just because even Disney doesn't know what they're doing with summer hours. As in...they don't know how many showings of the Jungle book show or how late AK will stay open....they don't know if they are adding more paid after hours events at MK, etc.

It's not new, they have been known to change hours the day before. Nothing is guaranteed except the normal operating hours, which are different for each park but I think MK and Epcot FW are 9 to 9 and WS 11 to 9. HS 9 to a little earlier but I'm not sure what it is, AK 9 to 5:30 or 6.

I know they do that. I'm wondering about the past few and upcoming months where we get mere weeks before the date and they still haven't let us know how late AK will be open. We know it isn't closing anywhere near 5 in July, we just have no idea when.

I'm pretty sure the May hours were updated around the middle of April. Not that it helps any. We are planning for June 4-10, and MK still closes at 10. We'll see.

If you think planning July is difficult, I'm trying to plan a June arrival and nothing has been updated yet...frustrating I know and you have my sympathies and understanding for planning July.

You & me both. We arrive June 4th and I think it's ridiculous that they haven't updated the park hours yet beyond AK open until 11:00. How can anyone accurately plan FP's, show times and ADR's?! It's a mess for sure.

Disney has absolutely gotten much worse about updating their calendars. While there have always been last-minute tweaks, it's never been as bad as it has this year. It makes planning much more difficult, which Disney had to realize, but it seems like they just don't care.

Sometimes I get the feeling that they just don't feel the need to update the calendars because they are only planning to ADD hours, not reduce them. People will be so happy, right? I mean, hey, we had told you AK was going to close at 6 but surprise! It's now going to close at 11! Don't you just looooove us now??

This morning on NY1 news (Time Warner's local news) The travel expert did a segment on ROL/Jungle Book, stating that it will open Memorial Weeekend, so hours should be posted by then! I agree that WDW has created a very frustrating situation by purporting the "priveledge" to plan-plan-plan, and withholding the tools!

With the new castle stage show coming at MK it's impossible to plan the parks hours beyond the next 7 days.

Same arrival date!! I hear you!!

I hear you. We are arriving on June 3rd and we have no idea what is up with AK and we have no idea what is up with the new Star Wars show at HS just to name a few. It's getting real frustrating. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to plan my ADR's 6 months out and our FP+ 60 days out. We are going to be a group of 8 and it's tough enough already. :confused3:faint:

Early June here too. Don't forget to include the possibility of Soarin reopening Memorial Day weekend with the old film. I know I know it's only a rumor guys so don't get all defensive, but I would love to be able to see old Soarin one more time, plus I hate that it might not be open for our early June.

I certainly understand it is not intentional, but they are kind of undercutting their own resort stay value if things are not available in time to be reserved early.
