Monday February 2nd, 2004.
Wife and I got up around 7 and checked out of our hotel. Today we had to meet my sister and her husband and two boys. We had booked a Holiday Villa for the Monday - Friday off of Irlo Bronson Pkwy. Before we were to meet them though, we had to get to our timeshare presentation. It was at a Sheraton property and the lady who gave us the tour was great. We were totally up front with her about our inability to buy and that we were there for the cheap tickets. She understood and did not push us at all. Her boss was a different story as he came by to give us a "survey" although he never asked us any questions. He just kept pushing us to buy a weeks holiday from him. We declined and he let it drop and thanked us anyways. There was no anger or hostility at all. Not like we had experienced before.
After we picked up our two Stay-and-Play Universal passes, we headed off to the Holiday Villa check in center. We got our keys and the directions to our villa and drove off to inspect it.
On the way over to the property, our cell phone rang and it was my sister telling us they were lost in Orlando. They neglected to bring a map and were relying on a gps unit to get them around. I quickly explained where to go and told them we had the keys for the unit early and to hurry on down to sit by the pool.
Once the wife and I got to the unit, we quickly unpacked and took a tour of the place. It was clean but old. The pool was quite a hike from our unit so we called and asked for something closer. They told us we would have to wait 4-5 hours until a new unit was cleaned. Fine by us. We waited by the pool for our family to show and had a couple of beers. After my sister and her family made it, we told them about the room switch and invited them out to the pool. The kids are 3 and 6 and had just sat in the car for 24 hours. They were very tense and quite on edge. We got them out to the pool to blow off some steam.
At 4 my wife went and got the new key for the unit closer to the pool. When she got back she informed us we had to move to a totally new property! It was about a mile up the road and right in front of the pool, perfect. We unpacked again and the wife and I decided to get some food while my sister and family rested from the long trip. We ate at the Perkins right at the corner of Ponciana Blvd and the Irlo Bronson. With dinner out of the way, we returned to the unit to hang out and talk about our respective drives. Bed soon followed. (the wife and I had two twin beds crammed together, how romantic.) We never complained though.
