Last minute trip to disney

So we just found out that we have some friends coming next weekend and want to go to the parks. We don't enjoy the food in the parks but they want to eat their meals in the parks. We have no reservations. Generally is there a long wait for dining in the restaurants at MK or Epcot (sit down meals). They like the buffet in Germany and the Mexican restaurant.

It's funny you mentioned those (Germany buffet/Mexican) because I'd say out of most options, those two establishments are the ones that are consistently available very last minute or that are reliable choices if there were no ADRs made. You should have it easy. Now MK....another story...I'm thinking most of the sit down restaurants there will present with little availablity or a lengthy wait.

I wouldn't say that the Biergarten is necessarily easy to get into without a reservation. During the summer, I have consistently seen 45 minute waits. Have you thought about Spice Road Table? I haven't tried to eat at Mexico, so no idea there.

To be honest, we don't eat dinner in the parks very often. Most of the time we leave around 2-3, go back to room for my daughter to nap for a few hrs then get ready for dinner somewhere not in the parks. Can we just go to any restaurant and wait or will they turn you away.

ahh, I see...then soniam is probably right as far as you never know what you might get just showing up. I'm sure you will find a great option without too long of a wait at Epcot with all those restaurants. Hope you have a good time!

You can ask to do a walk up at any restaurant. Some will turn you away others will allow you to wait. I have had pretty good luck in Mexico, Germany, China, Morocco, and occasionally France. The earlier you go to dinner the better chance you will have.

Thats a good idea. We generally eat early so we will try that out. Daughter likes living seas so we may try there to eat.

I've had good luck checking the Disney website in the morning of and found several options for dinner still available. If you are able to all be together in the morning, I would recommend this. It would save you the time of walking around trying to find one that has availability. It works for us many, many times during our vacations.

I remember back in the day at Epcot where there was a big board at the entrance where you can make reservations by getting on the courtesy phone (before cell phones were popular). Now you have to book months in advance for a decent time.
