Long story short, I may be going to Disney in two weeks! I am going again in June for our annual trip and using all our points, so no points, but there's no availability anyway. I need to go for CHEAP! I thought about staying off-site, but then someone on another forum recommended checking on a DVC discount. Is the only way to check on it to call MS? How much is it generally? I know it applies only to certain dates and certain resorts? Does it ever apply to the values? That's about the price range I need.

I believe you are talking about MS getting rooms through Disney's central reservations for a DVC discount. The discount is 25% off rack rate (which is sometimes more expensive than promotional rates being offerred by Disney), and you do not get daily cleaning service. There is no set rule as to when they are available, and it can be at any time up to your 11 month window and it can apply to any category of DVC rooms and to any dates. You need to call MS to determine availability and make any reservation using the DVC discount.

The cheapest way to go will be a Value resort, booked via Orbitz or similar with a stacked discount.

I know nothing about stacked discounts. Plus when I put my dates into Orbitz, it says they are sold out. I really do want to stay on-site especially since we are thinking about flying and it would be great to use MDE. But I'm starting to think we may just have to drive and stay off-site.

This wouldn't help with ME but have you check the Swan/Dolphin? Not necessarily cheap though. And keep checking CRO. With a 5 day cancellation on room only there can be quite a bit of movement in rooms.

I called MS this morning. I was told that the only DVC discounts were for the DVC resorts. He kept saying he couldn't see any other resorts. I asked him if that was because they weren't available for a DVC discount or if I needed to call a different number. Very confusing. I thought other resorts were available with DVC discounts????

I think you're trying to go during the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend. You won't find anything.

Could you please explain stacked discount?

Check the travel sites constantly, things change. Also check the disney site.

When I go on the cheap, I stay at the all stars.

Okay.

So specific inventory gets released to Orbitz from WDW. So a room can sell out through WDW and be available through Orbitz, because of the way inventory is managed. Orbitz frequently offer discount codes that take a flat rate off your reservation cost -- common ones are 5% off, or $50/off. The Orbitz inventory can also have similar room-only discounts as advertised at WDW, so if you then book the discounted room via Orbitz, and add the code, you're getting the room cheaper than you would through CRO.

So, basically, it's room-only discount + Orbitz code = yay

Big things to know is that you will pay for the Orbitz room up front (no pay at checkin option), there's a $25 cancel fee, and if you are putting kids in the room don't book them via Orbitz but add them once you've linked the reservation in MDE because Orbitz charge extra-person fees for kids that they shouldn't.

This is correct. DVC discounts are only available for a limited number of rooms at DVC resorts. For a cheap trip with no points this is not your best option anyway.

As others have said, keep trying all vendors, including Disney, for any openings at the Values. With cancellations, you may get lucky!

You also might start looking at off-site options since there are many that are nice and inexpensive. This would leave you some money to score a cheap car rental which might make for a very nice trip!

Good luck with your planning!

DVC discount is off of DVC resorts only.

If you have an Annual Pass, there is a promotion right now for up to 35% off select DVC and Disney Hotel properties through the end of July.

Also, check expedia for non-Disney resorts near Disney Springs or Main Gate West or East. You can check for condo type properties.

Maybe you can get a last minute deal on the Rent/Trade board or Davids?

Won't help to rent points here or through David's if there is no availability, but maybe someone has a confirmed reservation that will match her dates.

Oops missed that part. Sometimes I miss some things reading on my phone. Well that throws a monkey wrench into it now lol

I ended up booking at Pop Century and All-StarSports (had to do a split stay to get all 3 nights) through Orbitz with a promo code. I've never stayed in a value resort. DVC has spoiled me!

I have stayed at All Star Movies & enjoyed it. Have a fun trip!
