Last minute trip insurance purchase - which to purchase?

I really just need a policy that will cover flight issues if our flights are canceled or delayed for weather reasons or if we have to cancel or delay because our son gets sick. I think non-Disney insurance is more comprehensive and checked Insure My Trip (recommended by Mousesavers) but when I read the fine print on policies some say things like you don't get a trip delay benefit unless the delay causes you to miss 50% or more of the trip. Our trip is 11 days ling and I was hoping that we would be covered even if our flight leaves one day late, not 5.5. Any suggestions? I get overwhelmed by trip insurance

I would probably call one of the travel insurance places and speak to them, finding out if they have anything at all that would cover weather related stuff this late (when weather's coming at us), and last minute illnesses. With insurance it's SO important to get it straight from their mouths and then read what they send you.

I've read that Disney is actually quite good at helping out when you've missed some of the trip due to travel problems. And right now the airlines are seemingly helpful with people getting stuck/stranded.

So while on hold with the insurance companies to find out if any of their products work for you...read through Bavaria's tips (and the tips of the other seasoned travelers) so that you KNOW what to do if you get word about your plane travel going awry!

I ended up calling TravelGuard (which I have used before for insurance) and was able to purchase a policy including trip interruption and covering delay for other reasons including if my son comes down with something. Phew. And they already emailed me the policy. Thanks for the suggestion!
