We typically plan our vacations months in advance because planning is half the fun for me but we were fortunate enough to put together a very last minute trip. We fly in on Thursday, 12/18 and return home on Christmas Day at 5:15 p.m.

Our party consists of myself, DH, my 13 yr old DD, his 22 yr old son, DIL and 2 year old granddaughter.

We are spending one night at Daytona Beach (just cuz .. waiting on condo at Wyndham Bonnet Creek to become available on Friday).

We purchased 5 day park hoppers and have FP secured for our main wants: 7DMT, RNR, TOT, HM, Mission Space, and a couple others I can't remember.

We do have 3 Magicbands from a previous trip but I'm unclear as to whether or not the 3 of us that have them need to reactivate them by having our tickets put on them or just use the paper tickets? I also have 3 Magicbands that were shipped before I could cancel our trip in November (room only) .. would there be any benefit to having those "programmed" for DS and DIL or is that too much trouble .. or not even doable.

Another ? .. DIL is expecting so no coasters for her .. I went ahead and secured FP that include her .. is it unethical for someone to use her FP in order to ride it twice (for instance on 7DMT .. DD rides with DH and then returns and uses DIL FP to ride it with me?) .. That's probably one of those forbidden sins .. sorry .. don't flame me. :confused3

So much to plan and so little time .. not to mention this is a surprise for DD so my time to research is very limited ...

If you have linked your 5-day park hoppers to MDE, they will already be linked to the MagicBands you have. No need to reactivate anything. The MagicBands they shipped in November that you didn't use are already linked to whomever was supposed to go on that trip so they can't be re-programmed for someone else to use. So, those with pre-existing MagicBands can use them or just use the plastic tickets. Those that never had MagicBands will have to use the tickets or they can purchase MagicBands and have the tickets linked upon arrival. Honestly, unless you like the MagicBand, there is no real upshot to purchasing one.

I know a lot of people who have used others' FP+ and haven't had a problem. Disney doesn't seem to be stopping this practice.

Don't know the ins and outs of using prior MBs, but on the issue of swapping bands for FP I know somewhere it says they are "non-transferrable" but we often switched bands for others to ride on our extended family trip. CMs at certain rides saw some of our group say they didn't want to ride, and actually suggested the swap to us so that the FP wouldn't go to waste. It's not something they seem to mind at all.

There isn't actually any information "stored" on the bands... the bands just link to your MDE account and pull whatever relevant information is being queried (park tickets, FP+, etc). As long as you have the MDE accounts set up you won't need to "activate" anything. :) We've brought several bands on each trip and used them pretty interchangeably. Even though it's all in our heads, it's nice to put on a "fresh" band every once in awhile!

However, as others have mentioned, since the band is linked to an MDE account and doesn't actually hold any information you can't put someone else's info on it. If a band wasn't sent in their name, they'll need to either purchase one or use the alternative ticket media. But, we've never had a problem swapping bands for FP+ purposes. For example, I hate Tower of Terror, but DH loves it so we each get a FP+ and he goes twice... once with his band and once with mine. Once a CM joked with him about being a very masculine [my feminine name], but sent him right through. Hope that helps!
