I have a reservation through Disney with no discount. Just booked this morning for January 23rd. I then checked Orbitz and can get it for $173 less. If I book with Orbitz is there a way to get my room requests to Disney? Also I was wondering how we would sign up for Magical Express but I think I read there is a ME website where I can request ME to the resort. TIA

Orbitz you will call and get the confirmation number and enter it into your MDE and then you can make your room requests. As for Magical Express call Magic Express directly and you will be registered. If you call soon they can send you the luggage tags.

You don't even need to call Orbitz to get the Disney confirmation number anymore. It will appear on your reservation confirmation page on Orbitz. Even DME can be reserved online once you have your travel info and your Disney reservation number. The only time you would need to make a phone call would be if you have more than 2 people staying in the room. Orbitz charges you for a 3rd or 4th person, even if those people are children under 18. In that case, you book the room with 2 adults and then call Orbitz to make the change with Disney Wholesale.

I'm glad I saw this! I can get our stay for $270 cheaper through Orbitz right now....kind of a no-brainer since we aren't using the dining plan! So you can still request rooms??? They won't put us at the far end of the hotel since we booked third party??

Yes you can still request. We booked on Orbitz in December and sent a fax from touring plans. We actually got the room next door to the room we requested. It was perfect!

I have booked our last three stays through Orbitz, and have another coming up at the end of January. We also do not do meal plans and I buy tickets through another source. I don't make any special room requests, but in all cases we paid for standard rooms and most of the stays we were assigned better room types (preferred) than what we paid for, and in all cases the rooms were very well located. Love Orbitz!

And you still get magic bands and fast passes? Just change to your address correct? Sorry for all the questions!

Yes and yes. You have all the privileges of any other onsite Disney guest. You can customize your MBs once you add your reservation in MDE and then schedule your FP+ at 60 days in advance.

Of course not. Though there are people out there spreading rumors that they will.
We've even gotten upgrades at Disney to our Oribtz booked reservation.

Ha! I just can't believe I can get it so much cheaper and still have all the benefits :).

Oh, I know. It is strange. I guess the powers to be think that getting the money in full up front off sets the extra discounts given.
I noticed for most of last year the codes Orbitz put out had a cap of $150 on them. They did a few without but not as many as the year before.
This year the first code has no cap. I'm hoping they go back to more of those, less with a cap.

If I buy the tickets through Disney do you pay for those upfront as well?

Yes, you pay for your tickets up front no matter who you buy them from
Only rooms and packages booked with Disney are partially paid at the time you book (1 night for room only, $200 for a package)

OP here. As a previous poster said, I discovered that Orbitz only reserves for 2 people. We will have 3 adults. I'm not sure how much additional they would charge for the third adult but it was $273 cheaper for 2 adults on Orbitz than for 3 adults on Disney. I called Orbitz Customer Service and got someone who could barely speak English and I couldn't understand anything he said. I guess I will just stick with my Disney reservation since it is only 12 days away, although I do like to save money on our trips if possible.

I read that the online chat feature is great to use with Orbitz. Might be worth a shot to try that way.....Orbitz will actually have to call Disney to add a person to the reservation.....I will have to call/chat to add my two minor kids :)

Remember when you log onto MDE and customize your magic bands, change the address so they send them to your home. It will show Orbitz's address.

Great that you could save - last minute sounds fun!

Maybe call again about the 3rd person. They will put you on hold and call Disney for you, since they own the reservation.

I used them for our stay at Pop Century and still got close to our requests - but upgraded to a preferred room so was very happy!

So did you book with Orbitz? They can easily add a 3rd person, but I think there's a charge either way for more than two adults (unless it's a suite or villa). I say go for it and use the savings on something else!

I always use the online chat. Booked a trip just last week with them. Needed to add DGD to the reservation and the chat agent did it with just a few moments of my time.
No language issues with that either.
I saved $500 AND upgraded from lake view to TPV.

I did it! I got online early this morning (7:30) and found that Orbitz allowed me to put 3 people into the reservation (instead of just 2 as yesterday), so I did that. I then went to Chat and the nice agent added the names of the other two people. He also called Disney and gave them my two requests and gave me my Disney number. I saved $160. I'm happy with that. I also got online and reserved ME. Thank you, everyone, for the information and discussion which helped me save that $150!

I pulled the trigger and did Orbitz tonight before the code expired, but alas, there is not hotel confirmation number so I guess I'll chat with them in the morning. I tried both numbers that were in the booking email to link to MDE and neither work......I have to add my kids anyways, so it's ok!
