Last minute hotel possible?

We are staying at WL on Sept. 25th for three nights. We bought 4 day tickets and depending on what we decide to do the last day we might want to stay another night. Would it be possible to get a nice hotel in Orlando last minute? I really don't want to book a hotel because I'm not sure what our plans will be. Our other thought was to drive up the coast to maybe Jacksonville and stay the night there before heading home the next night. Same question, would we most likely be able to find a nice hotel there? Thanks

My husband had to make a last minute over night trip to Orlando in April. We went on Hotwire the day before, and he got a room at Amerisuites by the airport. Restaurants were nearby, and he said it was a clean hotel. When we checked hotwire, there were several hotels available. I would think with all the hotels in the area you would be able to find something, as long as you weren't too particular.

I think it's completely possible:)

And, like Teacher03 said, as long as you're okay with maybe not having the deluxe amenities like VWL, you'll be fine.

Now, if the weather turns a little windy;), and the forecast isn't looking too great, I'd be making a ressie earlier in that week.

I think I'd make a ressie at a WDW hotel now, and double check the cancellation policy...that way, you'll be covered if you decide to stay, and luggage transfer is a breeze.

Same for the Jacksonville idea - it never hurts to have a back up plan, and as long as you know what the cxl policy is, you'll be fine:)

HTH!!

I can't see why you couldn't be able to find a hotel last minute...isn't September considered low season in Florida? Anything is possible...in July one year we booked our trip to Disney two days (yes that's TWO days  ) before leaving and managed to stay on site at WDW and even get ADR's (PS at the time) we wanted.

We went last September and arrived a day early(to avoid driving through a hurricane). We needed a hotel for one night before our stay at CBR. We were going to stay offsite at some cheap hotel, but decided to see if there was anything at Pop. We arrived at Pop at noon and got a room for one night for a little over $80. Not a deluxe, a little more than a cheapy hotel offsite, but we made use of Disney transportation to check out some of the resorts and Downtown Disney. September is the slow season and you might be able to get a room for one night like we did.

Teacher03 and mbb thanks for helping answer my question. :)

You're welcome:)

And yep, September is low season for WDW..the only caution is that Free Dining is available up until September 30, so if you're planning on staying at a value, you may have problems finding a room at one of those.

Have wonderful, relaxing, nasty-weather free trip!! :goodvibes

It certainly is possible that you could get a last minute deal in either city. It's also possible that you'll waste valuable vacation time looking for one and wind up paying rack rate.

I would book a room somewhere with a 6PM cancellation policy. Most of the chains, such as Marriott, Hilton, etc have that. Book both cities if you want. Then you just have to remember to cancel the one(s) you don't need.

You can still even look for last minute specials if you want.

JMHO.

I give piece of advice don't stay at the Microtel Inn and Suites 7531 Canada Avenue. They sold my room to some else after I have booked on hotelkingdom.com. I confirmation with the hotel that I would be arriveing late. The management a sure me that I will have a non - smoking room with 2 beds would be waiting on me.

Just don't booked that hotel.

Jacksonville is around 4 hours from disney - that is a long drive after all day at the parks - I might go to St Augustine around 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Orlando.
