last minute gay wedding at WDW!

Right now i'm a little worried about the photographer. I know that they can be hit or miss and photography isn't the most important aspect for me, but I'm a little worried about ending up with a photographer who isn't gay-friendly or who is going to be overly traditional with us. We are a silly, quirky, nontraditional couple and we want that to shine through. No glowy fuzzy bridal portraits for me! I hate to lose the money from the included photographer - but I think I might bring in an outside photographer (I'm really loving the style of Live Happy Studio and they are gay-friendly and did some lovely photos for a pair of brides on the beach...) for portraits before the ceremony. I think the Disney photographer should be fine for the ceremony/toast though.

Although they can't guarantee your request, you can ask to have a specific Disney photographer and hope you'll get him/her. You might search through previous threads where couples have asked for Disney photographer recommendations or post a new request for suggestions.

I browsed the threads and the photographer portfolios and found a few that I like (Chris, Amy, Ty, I don't see Cricket listed) and I will definitely put in a request.
I am also a burlesque performer and in that area I am picky about photographers. I definitely get worried when I don't see much diversity in people's portfolios.
Thank you for the tip @lurkyloo ! This forum is the most amazing resource for me as I plan!

@Doodlebug25413 thank you for the info about SBP. I absolutely love the view over the water! and a breeze would be perfect - we Seattle-ites are unaccustomed to the heat and humidity. hoping my face just doesn't melt off completely. but keeping our fingers crossed for a glorious day!
BTW my family LOVES the hoop dee doo. i think it will be fun to go the same evening as our wedding - although the food there is definitely not fancy dress friendly :P

I have always loved Hoop Dee Doo. And good "home cookin" food. Plus all you can drink Sangria...helllllooooo!!! :drinking1
My hubby & I are not fancy people. So this whole wedding dress stuff is driving me batty because I want comfort & not a lot of frill, but still for it to be pretty. Quite honestly, if I pay more then $50 for a dress, you better
believe I'm going to wear the heck out of it if I can. (Yea I'm cheap too LOL)

My BFF's make up-- I'm not sure who she went with, but they spray this stuff on your face to keep the make up from "running". Her make up was picture perfect the entire day & night. And it was HOT & HUMID the day of her wedding (early May). If you choose to do your own make up, you might want to find out what that stuff is, maybe you can buy it online & DIY?? I dunno.

I hear you about the whole gay friendly. WV & VA just passed the gay marriage bill here. I am pro happiness, I don't care if you're gay or straight. Love is love. So I am happy for you two.
And I'm dying to see pictures of this UP wedding!!!!!!

@Doodlebug25413 neither one of use wants to wear a dress or a suit, so we are scrambling to find fashion that expresses our personalities. since i'm plus size i just went straight to etsy and am having something custom made (i have a local friend who is a fantastic plus size designer but she's getting ready for a new collection) but i'm still putting together some bits and pieces of my outfit. my partner wears straight sizes and so we've just been ordering a ton of stuff online...matching whites is impossible!
i am planning to do my own makeup. i'm really particular about it, and i'm pretty good at it. i'm still having to get a bunch of new products (including a super setting spray) because the style is a little different and i'll need longer wearing products, but i feel much more comfortable doing my own than having it done. whenever i get my makeup done i feel like i end up looking like someone else, and i definitely want to look/feel like myself on my wedding day!

Yay so exciting! I love love love The Boardwalk! Sounds like you're planning is going well! I can't wait to see pictures! :)

Matching whites is super hard!!! I'm still amazed we were able to find two dresses that complimented each other in essentially the same shade. I hope it ends up not being too stressful/time consuming of a wedding task for you. I'm sure the end result is going to be so gorgeous, especially since the two of you are staying true to who you are. :)

@LadyD thank you for the kind words! right now it is super stressful...but because my item was a custom order, i have to wait for it to arrive and then we can actually match whites. right now we are just holding onto items to in every level of white! i think we are both going to go the route of having pretty casual attire on and then an extra layer that is super "bridal" feeling - i have a waistcoat with a train and my boo has...well, about 50 different items at the moment! i think it will end up being either a white blazer or a bridal bolero/shrug. because our colors are derived from the "Up" movie, i'm wearing orange and they are wearing turquoise.

here are our shoes! with Dug who will be used to carry our rings. and you can see Buddy from "Dinosaur Train" in the background :)
the orange of my shoes is duller than i would like, but comfort wins for me! plus i have some really epic peacock shoe clips :)

!!!! I'm dying over your theme and the colors!! I adore the Dug!! Your guests are in for such a treat! It really sounds like the hard work the two of you are putting in is going to create something so beautiful, especially with all the little details. Your shoes are perfect!! SO much wonderful!

ahh, huge sigh of relief! i was just poking through some 2 bride wedding photos on offbeat bride and i realized that my boo and i don't have to perfectly match our whites! i mean, it would be almost impossible to get the exact same white, and how boring would that be? i think as long as the whites in our individual outfits look good together, we will look gorgeous and rustic and nontraditional and perfect.
(small victories!)

So excited for you! First of all, congrats! My partner and I got married last August in San Diego and took a DL honeymoon. It was awesome, being a non-traditional couple, we got to pick and choose which traditions we kept and which we threw out. We didn't incorporate anything into our wedding just because it is a standard inclusion. When it was all said and done, our day was the perfect demonstration of who we are. I agree with you about the photographer and think it is a smart idea to bring in your own photographer. We worked with someone in San Diego who had never photographed a same-sex wedding before. We did a trial "engagement" session with him, and that made all the difference. Prior to that, I don't think he realized how different it would be to photograph two women...what poses would work, what artistic style might best enhance our sameness, rather than the difference that photographers normally expose with a groom in a black tux and a bride in a white dress. The first photo shoot definitely helped him (and us) to think about the types of photographs we'd like to represent our day. He was a pretty expensive photographer, but after the trial and with us being a little more proactive regarding our photographs on our wedding day, we were so pleased we made the investment and took the time. I'll be posting a couple of wedding photos in a dining review I'll be starting here in a couple of days. (I didn't know the DIS had a wedding forum until today!)

Hang in there with the stress of planning. It will all be worth it in the end!

thanks everyone! we picked Sea Breeze Point at the Boardwalk. i grew up in NJ so i'm hoping to snag some really classic photos on the boardwalk. preferably with ice cream cones :)
i'm waiting to touch base with my coordinator, so of course i'm full of questions. we are going with a (subtle) "up" theme (ie our ring bearer and flower boy will be wearing neckties and suspenders, our attendants will be in neckerchiefs and sashes) but i'm wondering how much of my own decor i can bring in. we have a "my adventure book" guestbook and instant cameras for folks to take pictures with, carl & ellie's chairs for a cake topper, a mini mailbox like the one in the movie and some really cute favor boxes. i'd love to get a couple bunches of balloons too. does anyone know what the rules are around that stuff? we're considering a dessert party but since we are headed to the hoop dee doo that night i'm not sure we will need the extra food! i'm worried that our hour will just fly by. if the weather is nice i know we can hang out on the boardwalk, and we made a reservation at the captain's grille just in case.
eeeeeek i'm so excited!
Love your plans teukie! Have fun with the planning! Congrats to you both! And a shout-out from a Philly girl who used to spend all my summer vacations at the Jersey shore and loved walking the boards!!! Cape May, Wildwood, Ocean City, Sea Isle........

I just saw this - you're wedding looks and sounds so cute and fun!!

For those reading:
As far as Disney Photography - not all the photographer's are on the wedding page. Mine was listed elsewhere (Dean). I had originally gave 3 names of photographers and my planner told me that only 1 was available but still couldn't guarantee it. What I ended up doing was gave her the names of the photographers I would rather AVOID (it worked out for us, I think she got a better idea of what I liked / didn't like by giving her 'I like' and 'I do not like' list and I got matched up really well).

Congrats!
