I am afraid I am so behind! I was very sick all weekend with a high fever and lung infection that I feel like I lost so much time with finishing up getting ready for our trip! Can anyone please help me out. Just tips or pointers on things I might have forgotten to pack or do...I don't even know where to start. I feel better healthwise now, but lost because I don't know what I need to get done. Please help!

Thank you!

Don't forget to send off a room request, stop the mail & newspaper. As for packing, as long as I have the medications we might need I figure I will pack a couple days before but if I forget something I can buy it when I get there. Hope you are feeling better!

Hello,

We are leaving in 4 days for our FIRST Trip to Disney.
I'm a bit Obsessive Compulsive, so I've already have most of our things packed.

We have a 15 month old and almost 3 year old, so I have to plan a lot of things.

Here are a few:

1. POOL Things - swimsuits, watershoes, suntan lotion, lifevest, hats, sunglassess, little first aide kit for scrapes, etc..

2. PARK Things - I pack things in large gallon size baggies to keep dry and so things are loose. We will be taking a double stroller with us.
Change of clothes/socks, a few snacks, bottled water, sunscreen, hats, wipes, diapers, little baggies to dispose of dirty diapers, Baggies to hold "miscellaneous" stuff like restaurant napkins, coaster, maps, etc.. things that I want to preserve and save for scrapbooking. A few little toys to keep kids busy in lines, hats, cheap plastic rain ponchos incase it rains, first aid kit, purell hand sanitizer, a small thing of kleenex, my husband and I will each have a "waist" pack. All the bigger stuff will be stored underneath the stroller in the baskets.

3. On little index cards I have our reservation numbers for each Character meal we are attending.

4. I have a little "cheat" sheet of things that I definately want to try to see at each park.

5. At home , I've stopped the mail, stopped the newspapers, gotten someone to watch the pets.

6. I have some cash, credit cards, (copies of numbers incase things get lost/stollen)

7. We have made our order with Garden Grocer, so we don't have to bring diapers, wipes, water, snacks with us. They will be delivered to our hotel.

8. I have every over the counter medication I can think of incase someone gets sick. I also have my husband's allergy medicine and my son's eczema medication.

9. I have plastic disposable spoons and bibs for the kids.

10. I have disposable cameras incase our family decides to two different things, we each have a camera. (one digital and the other disposable). I also bought a WATER camera for the pool.

11. We have TWO batteries that are charged for our digital camera, plus several cards for the camera. We also have two batteries for our video camera. Also taking along all the wires, etc... that we can plug into our computer so we can download pictures each day, so we can clear the cards to take more pictures. :) We also have our cellphones and chargers.

12. I laminated my Passporter Maps, I like them, they are small and I can take them into the parks.

We are ready to go, we are verrry excited!

I hope you have a great trip and are feeling much better.

Take care
Kathryn

We always send a fax to the resort where we are staying and ask for a building or locations we would like. There are no guarantees but they have been really good at trying to put us where we want.

Thank you! I'm excited/nervous...

How is school going? It must be a relief to know in less than a year you will be DONE!

Abbracio - Thank you so much for your suggestions! Some of those I would NEVER have thought of! I appreciate the help.

Mousemom - Thank you too! I have my fax right here ready to be faxed later today (Thursday). :thumbsup2

It's going well - I'm burned out a bit  but just counting down the days to graduation (and more importantly, Disney :teeth: ) I am very happy, because I just found out I got an A on what was supposed to be the hardest test in the entire program :cheer2: Studied my tush off for that! Thanks for asking ;)

I already made our request when I booked the rooms. Do I have to send another request as we get closer?

I haven't done it, but I have read here that it is helpful to fax your room request 2 days before arrival directly to the resort. They're the ones in charge of that stuff, after all. HTH

Don't forget the power strip to plug in the phone chargers, camera battery charger, etc.

Good for you! Nursing school IS NOT easy! I was so glad to be done! Then the boards came and I didn't think they were too bad. I used the CD-ROMs to study with and by the time my testing date came up I figured it was time...I couldn't look at another question! My thoughts are if you do well in school the boards should be no problem. My DH took them last year and passed first try. I know you'll do fine!

I hope you're right ;)

Have a great time at Disney - I'm so excited for you that you'll be hanging with the mouse in just 2 days :dance3:

With all those electrical gizmos a power strip will come in handy when trying to charge all those batteries after a hard day at the parks

My kids are older now, but when they were younger, I would buy ziplock gallon size bags and put one outfit in each bag. It fits a pair of pants or shorts, a shirt, underwear and socks too. This made each morning extremely easy for me and my kids. If your oldest child is able to dress himself, then he can just pick a bag and get dressed all by himself. The bags are nice too, for placing wet or dirty clothes into when your done.

I also turn the water off outside if your in a cold climate and also shut the water off to the toilets ( on the wall). I pull the drapes to save on heat and go through the fridge to dump anything out that may spoil before we get back.

I also call the police dept. If you tell them you will be gone for a few days, they will swing by your house and just take a look around from the street, to make sure nobody has broken a window, or your garage door may be up etc. It's peace of mind.

I make a packing list before I start packing and check things off as I go. I also put that packing list in the suitcase or my carry on and when we re-pack to come home, I will know that I am remembering to bring everything back home, that we came with. I also store that same list on the computer for future trips :) Makes for a lot LESS stress in the future.

If you have a black suitcase, tie a ribbon or bandana around the handle. It makes it a lot easier to locate YOUR bag at the luggage terminal when you get off the plane.

Bring a nightlight, flashlight, water bottles, extra batteries, also nice to bring a small notebook to write in while your on vacation. This is handy if your scrapbook, you will remember what you did and when:)

Have a super trip!!! My family is going too on the 18th of OCT.

Hope this all helps. :wave2:
